Aun cuando en mi familia no ha habido niños con esta condición si he conocido personas que tienen autismo, unos mas leves que otros.
De lo que he podido leer y observar el autismo es complejo, no es fácil de diagnosticar y sobre todo en los niños mas pequeños que todavía no han comenzado a hablar.
Tendemos a ver a estos niños como seres diferentes al resto. Ellos están fuera del promedio del comportamiento de otros niños. Su forma de comunicarse no es la misma pero debemos tratar de comprenderlos.
Conocí a un niño autista que estudiaba en la escuela junto con mi hija. La madre de este niño siempre estaba pendiente de como se adaptaba al ambiente escolar. En varias oportunidades converse con ella y me comentaba que no había querido llevar a su hijo a una escuela especial sino que consideraba que era mejor para el estar con niños sin esta condición.
Me pareció muy buena esta decisión y el niño realmente se adaptaba y comprendía muy bien las clases de la maestra y hacia sus tareas. Se que su madre y el hacían un esfuerzo para que continuara sus estudios.
Me conmovio el apoyo de la madre hacia su hijo porque creo que es uno de los factores mas importantes para que el niño autista lleve una vida feliz independientemente de su condición
Sus amigos de la escuela tambien tuvieron un aprendizaje muy importante y fue el de saber que podemos ser diferentes en muchas aspectos, pero eso no es un impedimento para establecer relaciones de amistad y de respeto.

Even though in my family there have not been children with this condition, I have known people who have autism, some milder than others.
From what I have been able to read and observe autism is complex, it is not easy to diagnose and especially in younger children who have not yet begun to speak.
We tend to see these children as different from the rest. They are outside the average behavior of other children. Their way of communicating is not the same, but we have to see them as different from the rest.
I knew an autistic child who was in school with my daughter. This child's mother was always watching how he was adapting to the school environment. On several occasions I talked to her and she told me that she had not wanted to take her son to a special school but that she considered that it was better for him to be with children without this condition.
I thought this was a very good decision and the child really adapted and understood the teacher's classes very well and did his homework. I know that his mother and he made an effort for him to continue his studies.
I was touched by the mother's support for her son because I believe that this is one of the most important factors for the autistic child to lead a happy life regardless of his condition.
His school friends also had a very important learning experience and that was to know that we can be different in many aspects, but that is not an impediment to establish friendly and respectful relationships.
