It's time for a Wednesday walk! 😊 I am very happy to share with you my impressions from a recent walk around the small town Pancevo near Belgrade.
It was very cold, but that didn't stop us from going on an exploratory walk to the town that is so close and we never paid much attention to it. We needed a little escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and we chose the right place. When we stepped through the streets of Pancevo, we felt as if time had stopped there.
This small town is known for its long history, as evidenced by many buildings with beautiful facades.
Unfortunately, it is also evident that not much attention is paid to their preservation, because we came across many semi-ruined buildings and houses.
What gave me the strongest impression was that there is a lot of life behind all those facades. Old houses have been converted into cafes and shops.
There are almost no people on the streets, but this is probably due to the cold, because when you look through a windows you can see that something is happening inside and that the festive euphoria is very present.
The main pedestrian zone was also empty, but it had some warmth and welcome.
Bicycles are a favorite means of transportation because in such a small town it is a pity to pollute the air with cars.
While we were walking, we came across an imposing church that was closed and seemed quite abandoned, but the locals say that it is sometimes open when some cultural events are held.
It is an evangelical church built on the example of German churches at the beginning of the 20th century.
We saw another Roman Catholic church and we heard that these are not the only churches in town, but that there are more, so it seems that people in Pancevo have always been religious.
The most important cultural monument is the Magistrate Building, built in the 19th century.
We wanted to visit other sights, but it was very cold. We plan to walk there again and explore the whole town. Until then...

STOPIt is a shame that older building gets either destroyed or deserted. Your right sometimes businesses take them over and re-purpose them to save them.

Truly a great place to escape from a bustling city.. . But what I love are the architectural designs of these structures.. I am a fan of Spanish and British architecture ☺️
