I'm writing this from my desk, a wooden table that, I think, is older than I am. To my left is a stack of books, some with cracked spines. To my right, my cell phone, on silent. I'm not a blind nostalgic, nor do I pretend to be. I recognize the advantages of this time.
But I look around, I observe the people in cafes, the families in parks, and I see a pattern that worries me. I see screens. I see bowed heads. I see an intimacy shared with an algorithm, not with the person in the next seat.
