You can ask people not to share them, it's up to them if they wanna listen or not. It's hard for me to keep track on who doesn't want their posts shared as I already have lots of other things to do on a daily basis. You're posting them on a public open platform and there's no loss from what I can tell from content on hive being shared outside, if anything it may bring value to our ecosystem that's rewarding you in inflation of all stakeholders (it's kind of one of the base ideas behind inflationary rewards). It may also bring new users to our ecosystem who'll directly follow you and engage/curate your future posts.
I'm not sure what the reason may be why you don't want your photo's shared, maybe consider adding watermarks to them if you think someone might be stealing your photos? I don't think the issue is with sharing, anyone can come in here and share photos/text/other and call it their own outside of hive, whether they're being rewarded for sharing or through other means or just for bragging rights.
Feels like you're going about it the wrong way to ask people not to share pictures when the root issue may be the lack of watermarks on them? Dunno. Kind of a weird situation.
I think we should respect the will of creators who do not want to be shared. Some create for Hive and only for Hive, perhaps wanting to remain anonymous for the rest of the Internet.
I've noticed one thing since I've been participating in RedditPosh. Many photographers have already paid for the hive and unfortunately I must admit that we are still losing more and I don't think we want to expose the ecosystem to the loss of most photographers. Photography is one of the most popular forms of communication on social media and it is worth doing everything not to lose it on the hive. And if such a photographer creates for hive and clearly marks, then we should respect it. Because we can lose everyone.
So maybe it's worth adding to the latest update of the contribution rules in HivePosh that if someone points out that they don't want to be shared further, we shouldn't do it?
Sorry for my English, I'm using a translator.
I think it already is in the rules and I've generally tried to tell sharers to respect the wishes of creators. I have nothing against photographers and my curation projects actively support them (photography lovers community in OCD).
That said, it's hard to maintain and control, if you look at his latest shares it's all unique sharers, they all need to note that they can't share this particular persons content, it's even harder for me to know because I go through so many shares manually each day I can't keep track of who doesn't want their stuff shared when I need to look at so many other things when determining the vote strength towards the share.
We're actively discussing this and any help/solution is appreciated.
We can code and see in last 30 days who shared from no-share list and give them 3 warnings xD
This whole back and forth conversation is funny between u all (for me)
And hopefully everyone understands sooner or later that what acidyo is doing might be best for hive marketing XD
You clearly have very little understanding of copyright law, or you’re deliberately ignoring it. So I don’t know if there’s any point in explaining anything on this topic.
My objection stems from my view that certain principles should apply among creators: create your own work, don’t use someone else’s.
Just because someone might steal my photo (watermarks don’t protect anything with today’s graphics software) doesn’t mean you should encourage and reward people for doing so with your system. I base my posts mainly on photography, and I know there are better places to promote them than Hive or Reddit.
New users start out with low rewards for their posts, which is why many have either stopped posting or left Hive. If newcomers see that they can get more by using other people’s posts, what motivation will they have to create their own, better posts? What kind of new users will you attract here, and how is the community supposed to grow in such a case? Isn’t it better for the community to reward creators so they want to stay here and create instead of copying others?
Some posts are shared multiple times by different people just to earn Hive from recycling content.
People who share posts almost never vote on them, even though they’re often new, active posts. Their only goal is to use other people’s work to earn Hive. If they got, say, 10% instead of 60% of the reward, do you think they’d be so eager to share posts?
HivePosh isn’t for promotion; it’s for earning Hive.
I’ve been here for 4 years and I see more interesting creators leaving than new ones appearing.
We're not rewarding them for stealing content. We're rewarding them for sharing your and anyone else's content, if you see someone sharing your content pretending it's their own we will immediately ban them. They are required to link back to the original creator to even be picked up by the bot.
We've curated creators for close to 9 years now with OCD and we continue to do so today, rewarding sharing is only a part of what we do.
You're acting as if all stakeholders/projects are only rewarding sharing and ignoring authors/content when it is mainly just us rewarding sharing experimenting to attempt to bring traffic to this place when close to no one has bothered to share their content outside of this platform in the past without additional incentives.
So yes, we do incentivize them to share because no one was sharing in the past and we've seen great numbers of traffic coming in and plan to expend our sharing operations beyond reddit to whichever platform allows us to do so.
Either way, we'll be enforcing a rule that if some sharers repeatedly ignore someone's requests not to share their content they will be banned from the project. I'll also ban your account now since you wish not to participate in the project.
OK. For that reason alone, it was worth creating this post.
