I haven't spent much time on scrobble.life or decentmemes lately as I've decided to finally dive deep into holozing, but not the main flagship game that we've been working on the past couple years.
I could've created branches to add more stuff to that game without risking breaking anything, but I wanted to challenge myself and try something else with a few new tools I found for claude. I'm also considering getting the open beta of unity AI, but for now just making things work with Claude.
Either way, I don't wanna write out too much about what I've been working on, but let's see how it goes, progress has been quite alright.
About scrobble.life
I think the natural next evolution step there is to create a community or collaborate with other communities about inputting movie/tv show reviews under the movies tabs, so that when people log certain movies they can see some of the top reviews based on certain filters, either age descending or hive rewards or engagement, etc, as well as being able to see comments/snaps on the side.
For instance, right now if you click through to a movie, you're able to see the trailer and a few snap comments: https://scrobble.life/watch/Project_Hail_Mary_(film)

Idea is to include full post reviews there as well, maybe even an editor so people can write them out then and there and they'd go right into a community. I still need to figure out the best way for it. I'm also unsure about the movies community, there's been a couple ones but both controversial in their own ways, maybe best to create a new one that'd be tied to scrobble.life. Will have to think about it.
As for decentmemes, I like where it is now, I'm regurarly checking for submissions but they are quite few. Eventually we'll be adding a cost to this but for now the gates are open and I'm trying to curate it somewhat so people aren't just filling it with whatever.
Anyway. In other news.
I had to start a powerdown recently, which I think is the first time in many years.
I thought I'd be okay with just delegating to ocdb and receiving liquids daily but with the way the price of hive is lately it was unfortunately not enough and zing is digging itself deeper into debt faster than I can cover it let alone it's own delegation.
The good news is that AI is coming fast and strong and things will eventually pan out, at the same time it feels like all the money we spent on development has been kind of unnecessary in hindsight, should've just focused more on art and 3d. But hindsight is 20/20, I should be happy we did spend a lot of resources on artwork as that's the thing people dislike the most if AI has touched it which I'm happy that we haven't.
Anyway, I've been keeping busy lately and hoping things turn around sooner rather than later, but the good news is that I'm personally able to work on a lot of things I haven't been able to in the past and that's given me hope and something to do where I feel way more efficient and empowered.
Wow, this is the first I've heard of scrobble.life, I just checked it out. Such a cool idea, especially if we were able to write reviews directly on the site.
I was floating around and on the music tab it has a live section where it said you were listening to Metallica, that's an interesting idea. People being able to click on what someone else is currently listening to, to listen themselves.
Expanding on that idea, it would be cool if we were able to set up a playlist, and do a talking livestream/ radio show. It would be a good way of hanging out and chatting with people.
Thanks for checking it out! We can expand on more ideas if people like them!
Currently focusing on gaming for holozing but happy to get back to implementing more things, such as playlists doesn't sound too difficult to include.
The radio/livestream stuff maybe not for this however as it's mostly just links and custom.json ops being fed to the site, @meno is working on such things however for his snapie app if you wanna check that out!
Yeah I'll check out the snappie app too, I've been out of the loop for a good while now, so I really need to get up to date with what's going on around here.
I haven't played Holozing yet, I'll be sure to get onto it and have a go, I remember being excited about when I first heard about the project.
I'm going to get into scrobble and start logging some stuff. It's always nice to get some fresh recommendations, or get reminded of some dusty gems.
Appreciate you testing it out!
for mozilla, the extension can be installed here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/hive-scrobbler/?utm_source=addons.mozilla.org&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=search
for chrome you need to unzip it from the homepage and install it the annoying way by enabling developer mode until we get on the web store :D
Yeah a lot of people don't like art or anything graphics related made with ai... You couldn't know anyways 2-3 years ago when holozing was in development that Ai would have done so much
Thanks for the transparency, man. Starting a powerdown after all these years is a big move, but it makes total sense with the current market. The Scrobble.life review feature is a great idea- Hail Mary is the perfect example for it! Also, really glad you stuck with manual art for Holozing, that human touch gives it so much more soul. Good luck with the new experiments❤️❤️
I like this idea; I'll wait.
That would be cool. Can become rottentomatoes com with crypto rewards.
We used to have the cinetv community, but I think that kind of collapsed when Ray went off the rails.
yes.. things will pan out. balance. :)
I'd like to participate in this project. I've seen many films throughout my life and I'd like to write reviews, and it would be fantastic if this site became more accessible. I'll be watching.
Feel free, just letting you know though, we're going with a strict stance against AI generated images/gifs.
I think it is not necessary to use AI for movie reviews because it is the user's opinion and there is a free image bank No problem
i meant for the gif you submitted to decentmemes.com! my bad thought you replied in another post :D
Adding reviews is a nice idea. This will not only add more value to the site but will also attract more users as well. The more the merrier, I think.
keep winning and saving
I think this could enhance user engagement and provide valuable insights for movie lovers.
This is the last film I’ve watched. And I like the idea of you adding reviews on scrobble.life.
