Public Engagement and Voter Apathetic Reality
Despite the aggressive political shifts, most Americans remain disengaged from midterm elections until the campaign season heats up in October. Historically, voters only start paying attention in earnest during the final months before voting, rendering long-term strategic campaigning and early methods less effective in mobilizing the electorate.
The political landscape now is characterized by a brutal, often dirty fight—something quite different from previous eras of American politics. With the Republican Party adopting a much more aggressive, even provocative approach, the traditional notion of fair play is giving way to a more combative style.
