Rhododendrons are the first flowers that I ever learnt the name of as a child. Normally you don’t remember the first few learnings of your human life but I suddenly realized it today and I was slightly proud of myself lol. I think flowers like rose, sunflower, etc are pretty common and children pretty much easily figure it out but I still remember that particular class where I was taught about rhododendrons.
They are the national flower of Nepal and obviously being in Nepal required understanding it’s culture. I have always found them quite fascinating specially because they have that alluring shade of red and also grow in the Himalayas. Something that vibrant against the snow is pretty obvious to take anyone’s breath away! Nepalese women put them as an accessory in their hair during festivals too. Do you remember stuff like this too?
(Btw, I really liked the b/w version of the original artwork! In fact I liked it more :P)
