The ALMO CAMBIO

The Battle
While fulfilling my responsibilities in the Splinterlands scholarship account I have with Balthazar, bltzr-wizard-729, I was able engage in a battle that showcased the impressive capabilities of using the ALMO CAMBIO
especially in a Noxious Fumes ruleset. To get right into the action, the battle link can be found here. Otherwise, do read on as I go into more detail regarding the lineup and fight.
Let's dive into the rules governing this battle. It's a fairly straightforward battle, characterized by two distinct rulesets. Firstly, the Briar Patch ruleset grants all monster units with the Thorns ability. Secondly, the Noxious Fumes ruleset poisons all monsters right from the onset of the battle. The mana cap for this battle is set at 24, and there are restrictions preventing the use of the Life and Death Splinters.
Summoner, Quix The Devious
Given the Briar Patch ruleset, which grants all monsters the Thorns ability, it's clear that players would prefer not to opt for Melee units. Consequently, I made the choice to select Quix The Devious. This decision was influenced by its -1 Speed debuff, which allows my team to strike quickly before the opponents. Furthermore, anticipating that the enemy would heavily rely on either Magic or Ranged attackers, the -1 Ranged debuff would undeniably offer an advantage in this battle ✌️
First Position, Almo Cambio
This battle vividly demonstrates why ALMO CAMBIO
is such a valuable asset! Despite lacking offensive capabilities, it is equipped with several counterattacking mechanisms, including Return Fire and Magic Reflect. Moreover, with the Briar Patch ruleset in play, it can now also retaliate Melee damage through the Thorns ability. Lastly, its Immunity ability played a crucial role in this match, rendering it unaffected by the Poison stemming from the Noxious Fumes ruleset 💪
Second Position, Venator Kinjo
Venator Kinjo assumes the second position, primarily for its Reflection Shield, which acts as a safeguard for the backline against potential Blast damage from the enemy. Additionally, its Slow ability perfectly complements my overarching strategy of maintaining a higher speed than the opponent, consequently enhancing ALMO CAMBIO
chances of evading attacks while in the first position. Lastly, Venator Kinjo boasts the Immunity ability, therefore unaffected by Poison throughout this battle 😤
Third Position, Angelic Mandarin
The main objective behind incorporating Angelic Mandarin into this set up is to provide essential healing support to the backline, primarily through its Triage ability. The role played by Angelic Mandarin is crucial in guaranteeing the survival of the monsters positioned in the rear, particularly considering the Noxious Fumes ruleset, which continuously inflicts Poison damage on monsters 🤝
Fourth Position, Venari Marksrat
Venari Marksrat continues to be a preferred choice in my lineup for various battle scenarios, particularly those featuring the Noxious Fumes ruleset. Given its role as a fodder unit, I position Venari Marksrat strategically between Angelic Mandarin and Merdhampir. This placement enables me to utilize its Martyr ability effectively, providing essential stat boosts to the adjacent units when it naturally succumbs to Poison damage 😎
Last Position, Merdhampir
Merhampir is a monster that I absolutely adore when playing with the Water Splinter. Its Life Leech ability allows the monster to continuously increase its health based on the damage dealt to the enemy's units. This ability becomes even more significant in battles featuring the Noxious Fumes ruleset, as Merhampir can offset the damage received from the Poison damage by effectively healing itself through Life Leech 😤
Last Position, Chaos Agent
Chaos Agent secured a spot in my lineup mainly due to my mana constraints after selecting the core members for my battle strategy. While I didn't anticipate the opponent fielding any monsters with the Sneak ability, I positioned Chaos Agent in the last slot of the lineup to safeguard the backline. Chaos Agent benefits from its Dodge ability, which increases its chances of evading enemy attacks. Additionally, its Backfire ability enables it to deal 2 Melee damages when opponent misses the target 😇
The Analysis
Similarly to my strategic approach, the opponent also opted for Quix The Devious as the Summoner and combined it with Water Splinter monsters. Additionally, the opponent included a Martyr ability monster, Vruz, hoping it would grant stat buffs to Djinn Oshannus and Baakjira upon its demise from Poison damage. By utilizing the Cleanse ability from River Nymph, the opponent successfully removed the Poison debuff from Djinn Oshannus 👍
While there were similarities in our team lineups, the enemy couldn't endure the onslaught from my lineup. With ALMO CAMBIO
serving as my tank, immune to Poison and capable of returning all types of damage (Melee, Ranged, and Magic) to the opponent, I focused on constructing a resilient backline capable of both self-sustaining and dealing damage effectively. The opponent had hoped to persist with Baakjira till the end of the battle, but its downfall came at the hands of Merdhampir, which possesses the Cripple ability, reducing the target's max health with each attack 🤣
