La historia de un robot que es madre, así se puede resumir la premisa de I Am Mother(2019), un largometraje de origen australiano que mezcla el drama y el suspenso para abordar los frágiles comportamientos de la naturaleza humana. La película indaga en la perfección y la imperfección, en el cuestionamiento y la duda, esos temas que oímos desde que somos niños y nos contaron que Eva mordió la manzana. En 115 minutos indagaremos en el por qué y el cómo, y si podemos confiar en esa serpiente que aparece de repente para hacernos dudar de nuestro propio creador.
La película narra la historia de Madre e Hija, un androide y una chica que viven a salvo de un mundo en ruinas en el laboratorio de un búnker. Hija fue concebida bajo un proceso artificial en una esfera que remplaza el vientre de una mujer, y es la única humana que existe después de una gran infección y catástrofe que arrasó la existencia, o al menos eso es lo que le dice Madre.

The film tells the story of Mother and Daughter, an android and a girl who live safely in a world in ruins in a bunker laboratory. Daughter was conceived under an artificial process in a sphere that replaces a woman's womb, and she is the only human that exists after a great infection and catastrophe that devastated existence, or at least that is what Mother tells her.

Hija recibe educación, cariño y mucho amor por parte de Madre, y todo parece machar bien hasta que Hija comienza a tener razones para dudar sobre lo que Madre dice acerca de la extensión de la vida. Todo empeora cuando una mujer le pide auxilio a las afueras del búnker, por lo que ahora, después de saber que no es la única humana en la faz de la tierra, Hija se verá atrapada en el dilema de creer en Madre, la androide con la que compartió años de vida, o confiar en la desconocida, quien insiste en que Madre realmente es la culpable de la extinción de la humanidad.
Esta historia trata sobre una familia, o más bien la construcción atípica de una. Vemos a un robot siguiendo el patrón de una madre que rompe con la complejidad de la programación. Nuevamente presenciamos esa batalla entre la inteligencia artificial y el libre albedrío, con las armas que la naturaleza humana y la robótica ponen sobre la mesa. Lo curioso de esta película es que estos temas parecen fundirse, y en poco tiempo el espectador ve más que una androide de cables, algoritmos y censores.
Daughter receives education, affection and a lot of love from Mother, and everything seems to be going well until Daughter begins to have reason to doubt what Mother says about the extension of life. Everything gets worse when a woman asks for help outside the bunker, so now, after learning that she is not the only human on the face of the earth, Daughter will be caught in the dilemma of believing in Mother, the android with the one who shared years of life, or to trust the stranger, who insists that Mother is really the culprit of the extinction of humanity.
This story is about a family, or rather the atypical construction of one. We see a robot following the pattern of a mother who breaks with the complexity of programming. Again we witness that battle between artificial intelligence and free will, with the weapons that human nature and robotics put on the table. The funny thing about this movie is that these themes seem to merge, and in a short time the viewer sees more than an android of cables, algorithms and censors.

Hija y Madre, máquina y humano, una relación en la que las diferencias por cables y sangre importan poco. Una niña es criada por un robot, una niña que siempre mostró interés por la curiosidad y la compasión. Ella, como todo infante, tuvo miedo antes de conciliar el sueño por las noches. Pero Madre estaba ahí para protegerla y cuidarla. Ese esqueleto blindado con censores y lucecitas de colores es más que un CPU: es alguien que también tiene deseos. Alguien que protege, que ama y daría todo por su pequeña.
Es interesante la forma en la que I Am Mhoter nos muestra el concepto de la perfección. Los humanos nacemos imperfectos, los robots son creados para corregir esas imperfecciones. ¿Quién es mejor? ¿El hombre o la máquina? Esta historia nos invita a reflexionar sobre la respuesta correcta, a cuestionar lo frágiles que podemos ser, y sobretodo a analizar el carácter curioso con el que venimos desde que abrimos los ojos por primera vez.
Daughter and Mother, machine and human, a relationship in which the differences by wires and blood matter little. A girl is raised by a robot, a girl who always showed an interest in curiosity and compassion. She, like all infants, was afraid before falling asleep at night. But Mother was there to protect her and take care of her. That armored skeleton with sensors and colored lights is more than a CPU: it is someone who also has desires. Someone who protects, who loves and would give everything for her little girl.
It's interesting how I Am Mhoter shows us the concept of perfection. Humans are born imperfect, robots are created to correct those imperfections. Who is better? The man or the machine? This story invites us to reflect on the correct answer, to question how fragile we can be, and above all to analyze the curious character with which we come from the first time we open our eyes.

La ambientación de la película va más allá de un pos Apocalipsis. Miramos de nuevo al génesis, y las tres figuras con la que todo inició: el creador, la mujer y la serpiente, está vez personificados en un androide, una hija y una desconocida. El triángulo se repite y la desobediencia pinta el drama. En esta película no es la máquina la que se revela ante el hombre, es el hombre quien se revelará ante la máquina. La capacidad de confianza es puesta aprueba, al igual de la coherencia y el sentido común. I Am Mhoter es una prueba de comienzo a fin, un examen donde las preguntas parecen complejas pero las respuestas son sencillas si las analizas bien.
El director Grant Sputore apostó a algo grande y diferente. Tal vez este concepto se quedó algo corto en el camino, pero la historia de origen australiana viene a seguir con esa corriente de películas occidentales que están entrando a la carrera del cine. El largometraje sirvió para que actrices como Clara Rugaard vieran la luz después de un largo camino por las series de televisión para adolescentes.
The setting of the film goes beyond a post-apocalypse. We look again at the genesis, and the three figures with whom it all began: the creator, the woman and the serpent, this time personified as an android, a daughter and a stranger. The triangle repeats itself and disobedience paints the drama. In this film, it is not the machine that reveals itself to man, it is the man who will reveal himself to the machine. The ability to trust is tested, as well as consistency and common sense. I Am Mhoter is a test from start to finish, an exam where the questions seem complex but the answers are simple if you analyze them well.
Director Grant Sputore bet on something big and different. Perhaps this concept fell a bit short on the road, but the Australian origin story follows that stream of Western films that are entering the film career. The feature film served for actresses like Clara Rugaard to see the light after a long journey through the television series for adolescents.

La banda sonora busca familiarizar al espectador con el contexto de los hechos. Escuchamos sonar a Baby mine mientras miramos a Madre dándole calor a su hija con un abrazo de censores cálidos. Esto es hermoso y conmovedor, algo que logra con éxito la musicalización a lo largo de las escenas.
La apuesta de I Am Mother consiguió superar la brecha de las películas de palomitas, sin embargo, la concepción general de la cinta, digna de elogiar en algunos aspectos como la banda sonora, la premisa y los puntos de giro, no quedarán para marcar el hito en el ámbito de la ciencia ficción. Esta historia te gustará si amas los mundos apocalípticos, el suspenso, el misterio y el drama. Al final, sabrás el gran valor que tiene una familia, y sobretodo, la intuición y el instinto de una verdadera madre.
The soundtrack seeks to familiarize the viewer with the context of the events. We hear Baby mine sound as we watch Mother warm her daughter with a hug from warm censors. This is beautiful and moving, something that the musicalization achieves successfully throughout the scenes.
The I Am Mother bet managed to overcome the gap of the popcorn movies, however, the general conception of the film, worthy of praise in some aspects such as the soundtrack, the premise and the turning points, will not be left to mark the milestone in the field of science fiction. You will like this story if you love apocalyptic worlds, suspense, mystery and drama. In the end, you will know the great value that a family has, and above all, the intuition and instinct of a true mother.

Hola... Netflix siempre me la recomienda pero la verdad no le he prestado atencion, quizás si lo haga, la inteligencia ártico cada día va tomando más terreno quizás no al mismo nivel que aparecen en las películas pero si están presentes en nuestras vidas.
En algún momento tendremos que saber que es mejor para la humanidad, espero que entendamos a tiempo los errores que cometemos y que son los únicos causantes del que el planeta sufra.

Hola @jcrodriguez I Am Mother toca un aspecto muy peculiar de la maternidad. El hecho de que una máquina crie a un bebé a tal extremo de amarlo, es realmente maravilloso. Sin embargo, creo a la película le faltó profundizar más en ese punto. Aún así, es una película agradable. Saludos cordiales.
