Hello, steemians! Welcome to da garden, eh!
It's been about a week or so since my last update on my container garden, so I thought that today would be a good time to do another update. That, and I made another change to the container garden by adding a second tote to the garden. I had a couple of Adirondack Blue seed potatoes left over from all the planting, so I decided to make another growing box out of an older tote with a broken top cover. This tote is pretty much the same as the other tote that I already made into a growing box. I did the usual drilling of drainage holes in the bottom of the tote and then covered the bottom of the tote with a layer of weedcloth to help keep the dirt from washing out through the drainage holes.
Then I mixed up some dirt for the planting box. I used some regular dirt, some potting soil, and some vermiculite for the dirt mix.
That was enough dirt to fill the box about half full, enough to put the seed potatoes into. I planted 2 seed potato chunks in this box. More than that would be too many for the space, less than that would be a waste of space.
Then I had to mix up some more dirt to add to the planting box to cover the seed potatoes. I also put some of the dirt in the other box to cover up half of the potato plant that's growing in that box, and I gave them both a drink of water.
The green bean plants in the big pots seem to be doing well right now, I just have to remember to water them more regularly to keep them growing well. This picture was taken before I moved stuff to make room for the second potato box.
The tomato plant seems to be doing well, it has lots of small tomatoes on it now. This is a cherry tomato plant.
This is an overview of the container garden with the new arrangement.
If you look in front of the green bean pots in this last picture, you'll see a small silver object on the ground behind the strawberry plants. That is a live trap for catching squirrels and chipmunks. I've been having trouble with the chipmunks eating my strawberries as they get ripe. I've been using a peanut in the shell as bait in the trap. So far, I've caught 3 chipmunks in 3 days. I don't think it's the same chipmunk because I take them for a ride out in the woods to release them. Usually if there's 1 chipmunk around there's a bunch of them. It will be interesting to see how many of them I end up catching. The cats have obviously not been doing their job...
Remember, if you can't have a garden in your yard, you can always grow fresh veggies in containers.

The only problem with growing weed in containers here is that I can't grow it outside, it has to be inside a structure. Of course, I consider a 15 gallon pot to be a container, so I suppose I could still call it container gardening. :-)
Ah ok, then thats a shame hahahha! In spain I used to grow by using a trick called LST (Low stress training) and have the plant trained to grow horizontaly instead of vertically, this his it from both the patrolling police and the thieves looking to take your plants hahahhah :)
That's actually a good idea, I should try that with one of my plants to see what happens. :-)
