Hello, steemians! Welcome to my page!
Last Thursday and Friday, we took an overnight trip up to Copper Harbor and Brockway mountain on the tip of the Keewenaw Peninsula in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. We went up there for the solstice, the plan was to watch the sun go down from the top of Brockway mountain on Thursday. Normally there's a nice breeze up there, but it was rather calm this time, and the gnats were pretty bad. Since I wasn't expecting to have to deal with the gnats, I didn't bring any bug repellent, so we decided to leave there and find a less buggy spot to watch the sun go down. We ended up on the Lake Superior beach at Eagle River, not too far from Brockway mountain. The breeze was coming in off the lake just tnough to keep the bugs away, so we sat there and watched the sun go down. The sky was pretty much clear except for a line of clouds along the horizon, so I was able to get some cool pictures of the sun going down into the lake. There was a couple of bits of dust on the lens of the camera that I didn't know about until I was looking at the pictures on the computer, but they didn't affect the pictures too much.
Here's what the sun looked like as it was approaching the horizon.
I took a series of pictures as the sun was going down below the horizon.
Of course, you can never really capture the full impact of the scene with a camera, but I thought the pictures came out pretty well with my snapshot camera. All in all, it was a very pleasant evening for the solstice!
That's all I have for this post, thanks for stopping by to check it out!

Thank you! It was interesting taking that series with the snapshot camera. :-)
