What's up fellow Steemians!! What's happening this weekend you say?? Well it's the first ever Rockneo is happening this Sunday at 5pm!
This long awaited event is finally happening! Rockneo 18 is organized by Bornaya Events. Bornaya Events established this year which handled by my friend,
Deborah Aduk, and the famous,
Richeal Gimbang of Estranged!
Thank you Rich for reaching out to underground scene here in Sabah! Thank you for not forgetting us.
The event will showcase pure Sabahan bands that came from different district and different genre. Let me introduce them one by one.
First up we have,
Boil! Beyond Our Imaginary Lives. Boil is a grunge alternative rock band hail from Papar. Yeah Papar! With music influenced from Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Boil will blow your ear with eargasmic music. You can call this band "Otai" as they've been around for more than 10 years and sounding better every time. Beside playing around Kota Kinabalu, Boil eventually spread their wings and brought their music to outside world.
Next up, we have,
The Jethroes! This one will bring you deep into halucination state because The Jethroes, them lads is a Stoner Rockers. Their music is experimental with melodic riffs and upbeat drum. These lads are from Penampang. Little secret, which I don't think is a secret no more, these guys used to be called The Retrock but soon rebranding with a new name and new sound.
Third band is,
the playful boys from Chugs On Deck (@chugsondeck). Check out their stuff on Musicoin! COD is an easycore alternative punk band. They sound so fresh and complicated at the same time. What I can promise you guys from watching COD on stage, your head will automatic banging and your feet will want to jump. These boys are so energetic on stage you feel a riot coming on. COD is from Kota Kinabalu!
Well, the next band need no introducing as they are quite active here in Steemit but I will just introduce them. Introducing our 4th act,
Me Gusta!! (with the double exclamation marks).
Me Gusta!! (@officialmegusta) is an Indie Alternative Rock band! These guys just released their debut album, and let me tell you, it is super fine! Heavier than what they served on their previous EP, these guys will blow your brains out and wish you could sound as cool as them. While most of them grew up in Sandakan, but this band is based in Kota Kinabalu and been playing around KK and outside of Sabah.
Next up, we have them gentlemen from
Buzzing Joker. A band so well known in Keningau. Let me tell you, go and check out their songs in Youtube, and get ready to be addicted. Once you heard their song, especially "Jauh", you can't take the song out of your brain! These gentlemen is Keningau's Indie Alternative Rock band who has been in the industry for a very long time and surely will stay even longer. Make sure you are wearing shoes because you are going to dance to this one.
I'm getting excited to name the last act, which is
Suistereo! How cool is their name! Also hailed from Keningau, Suistreo is one of my favorite band here in Sabah. I love their songs which mainly tells us about life. Suistereo is an Indie Rock band. They have been gone for some times but now that they're back, they are rocking harder. Be ready to fall in love like I did when I first heard them. Go follow them on Facebook to listen to their music.
There you have it! six awesome bands are going to take the stage and I'm pretty sure you guys won't want to miss it. The concert will be held in Oceanus Mall, Kota Kinabalu starting as early as 5 PM. Wait! It is not a free entree as we need to show our love for this band, now tickets are at the verge of sold out, but I do have some tickets with me if you want to go. Tickets are now RM25 and RM15 for students. If you option for buying tickets at the entrance, it will be sold for RM35.
It is going to be awesome, so come and experience live shows like you've only seen on the screen of your phone or television. It's going to be EPIC!!
