The Daily Meme #482!

in #hardfork • 4 years ago

If they decide to fork the chain, again, do you think that this time we, the regular users, could just double up on our great fortune to have been offered rewards for our mind droppings?

Or, do you think the fork that loses most of its users will be so small minded as to not allow that?

'It's loyalty or nothing!'

You will have to decide for you how that splits down and which chain is worth the effort to follow.

I don't think a peaceful divorce will be possible while retribution is available to the control freaks.

Are you are tired of paying your masters to bomb children in far away places?
Perhaps it is time you pushed back on that.
A simple way that anybody can do that is to hoard your coins.
A dollar of change in your pocket is a dollar of value out of the banksters' pockets that force us to pay them so they can play in the amusement parks from hell and shop in the human grocery stores.
'Aint that fresh?'

Metal in your own possession will always have more intrinsic value than digits on a bankster's ledger.

What's so civil about war, anyway?

stocking fires of rebellion I see :)

Meh, just another day in the gold mine.
Working my fingers to the bones, and what do I get, bony fingers,...

If they decide to fork the chain, again,

Would you ask a refuge what they would do if they decided to "move" again?

We did not "decide" to fork.
We were punted off our own network by a megalomaniac vulture capitalist.
As if forking is something that we can just decide to do whenever it suits us?

There isn't going to be another fork.
There's no way to get the consensus required for such a thing.
To quote @theycallmedan, it requires an "alien invasion".
And if we have to go through that again, blog rewards are the least of everyone's concerns.
Perhaps we should be looking at better ways to build value that don't require permission.
That's the entire point of crypto.

We did not "decide" to fork.

Clearly, a decision was made or hive wouldn't be here.
The circumstances that precipitated that decision would vary in any future similar decisions.

There's no way to get the consensus required for such a thing.

Tell it to blurt, eh?
IF somebody with enough reputation in the community decided to breakaway there is no stopping them.
Can we get our current crop of whales to go along with a split, maybe, maybe not, but any split would likely have to take at least one of them with it.

Splinterlands is a good example.
We gave aggie the back of our hands and he separated as much as he could.
The same could be said for a number of other active users just as influential.

I mean blurt would have been more successful with a couple tweaks to its reality.
The firestick killed golos or we would have an already working model.
I should probably look to see what they are up to, I'm sure the chain is still running.

As you are fond of saying, we aren't competing within open source software, we are complementing.

Oh using my own words against me, eh?

That's fair.

Tell it to blurt, eh?

I feel like Blurt is exactly the kind of thing that proves my point.
That was a completely illegitimate chain from the start.
There was no way to avoid forking out stake and keeping the governance decentralized.

Here is the Blurt thought process:

  • We can't "steal" tokens; this is rule number one.
  • Therefore we will 100% centralize the chain and control everything.
  • Don't worry, when this crisis is over we will return control.

I mean blurt would have been more successful with a couple tweaks to its reality.

A few 'tweaks'?

You can't just say that without backing it up. The chain was dead on arrival. It capitalized on the emotions of the hostile takeover and tricked people that didn't know any better into believing it was a viable solution. It wasn't. It never was. It never could be. The only way to cut out cancer from a DPOS chain is to fork that power out of the system. Once it happens a dozen more times on other platforms this will become much more obvious. Books will be written about it. Luckily when it happened to us it wasn't a Sybil attack and all the stake we needed to get rid of was all stored in obviously identifiable containers.

I have to agree that the second layer is arguably going to become even more important than the main chain. All tokens and smart contracts are going to be outsourced to it. I mean at the end of the day all we can do is be patient and grind forward. Bear markets hurt but shit also gets done.

oh my, is there really a fork coming up? so things will be like when hive split from steemit? and we choose which one to go with? 😮🤐😜

I doubt that one can be managed at this point, not enough people angry with what we have.
It would take somebody influential to break ranks.
I'm not sure that we are large enough to split the community successfully.
Just not enough users to fight over.
Never say never.

I don't know whether there is an upcoming fork, but I agree that something in it should be in favor of us, the regular users.

We have it pretty good, actually.
Much better than when it was steemit.
What we need most is more users.

Right, more users who will be able to adopt HIVE and stay here for a long time.

It's not every day a golden goose falls in your lap.

I had a post of my own and now I got downvoted by a steam user.

Unless the downvotes are taking all of your rewards just ignore them.
When you have more community support than flaggots you get to keep the rewards.
So, get out there and make some friends.

that was the first negative vote, and that's me.

you see there is my proof

Yes, just put out original content regularly and you won't have to worry about getting downvoted and your audience will grow.
