My eldest has taken on basketball this term for his PE. We have enrolled him for a weekly 1 hour session which is enjoys thoroughly. So when we got an invitation for a free 3-hour Elite Camp from this institution he is enrolled in, we took the chance!
For starters, he got a free shirt which they used in the training. 😉 Then, this rigid training beginning with an intense warm up.
Ready to Quit!
Kuya was ready to give up 20 minutes into the warm up! I saw him, crying while doing the exercises. The coaches of course encouraged him to keep on.

The second hour was comprised of several skills training-- dribbling, lay ups, defense/offense. The final and third hour was dedicated to application.
Lessons of the Day
After the training, I asked him how he felt. He said he felt good about being able to finish the training. Well, he is not the most active kid in the neighborhood so a 3-hour straight training is something I am also proud of.
A brief chit-chat with coach after the training and he said, "I am not going to let you give up just like that". Truly, if anything, the training made him more eager about the sport.
Quitting is not an option.
Nope. If we get tired, we can rest but not quit. We have to finish what we started. I am glad he my son learned it from this activity.
You will see on the video how he would sometimes get off track. But in the end, what matters is the character of perseverance that he learned that day.
