Nourishing the Center

in #nature • 8 years ago

There is something so perfect about a plant that you have to feed from its center. Not a top-to-bottom linear-people-nutrition model where you pile it in at the top end and hope the trickle eventually gets down far enough to the root tips, but a logical spiritual-plant-nutrition model that feeds the exact spot where the new leaf-life emerges.

My bird's nest fern is my guru. I cultivated her from a little sporling - the offspring of a much bigger bird's nest fern in the garden at our old San Phi Sua river house here in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand. I was crushed to have to leave her behind, as I had nourished her, too, into a massive Mama Plant Being almost 5 feet tall; she often surprised me with little green tree snakes curled in her center. And so I carefully took one of her little sporlings and put her in a tiny pot for our years in the city.

For a long time she simply sat in her pot, not looking very happy and apparently not doing very much. Waiting. And so I asked a few wise witchy women friends and developed my own way to feed her.

Every few weeks, I place banana skins (usually chopped but not always), coffee grounds and used moringa leaves (after my moringa tea) right in her center. From the place where she sprouts her new leaves. Where she absorbs and processes and creates new life. The transformation is amazing. I feed her intensively 2 or 3 times in one week, and then I pause and watch.

After a few feedings, the magic started to happen.

A whole new crown of leaves starts from her center and there is a complete sense of her EXPANDING. It is beautiful to watch.

She is beginning to set spores again which I will carefully try to harvest and grow into new little sporlings.

I am encouraged as I talk to her every morning early, that I should nourish myself and others, not by haphazardly flinging my ideas and thoughts around, but by observing and learning exactly what they need, when and where... and then by giving just and only that. And being as excited and proud of their growth when that happens. As it inevitably will, when we give Living-Spiritual-Beings what they need.

Endlessly encouraged that all the gurus I need in my life are right there, under my nose, waiting for my attention, in my simple, mindful, day to day.

HUH! I didnt know this existed! So wait, you dont feed them water and fresh soil on the bottom but everything in the centre?

I got to get me one of these :)

Yup - in the forest, they catch all the dead leaves and bugs etc and process their food from the center - their leaves are like outstretched arms. :) Never water her at the bottom - always everything goes straight to the her heart. :) Mother Nature is AMAZING, no??? :)

Very interesting. Never seen one of these before.

Glad to be introducing you to some of Mother Nature's beauties then. :)

great

Thank you. Wishing you great things on your steem journey.

This is so cool! Glad you got to bring your beloved plant with you to your new home! ❤️
