A group of “pro-life” activists in Texas are doing everything they can to prolong the suffering of an 11-month-old paralyzed girl who will never recover from her condition. Tinslee Lewis has suffered since birth due to a heart defect and lung disease, and doctors at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth have made it clear that there is nothing they can do to improve her situation. Allowing her to die would be the humane thing to do. The only other option is letting her suffer. Anti-abortion activists and Texas lawmakers have weighed in saying that they want the girl to suffer more. A judge ruled in favor of the hospital, effectively saying they could take her off life support. The “pro-life” crowd is furious about it.

The sound stopped working early on in the video. It is sickening that these “pro-life” groups can have such a serious impact on a hospital’s ability to take action that is in the best interest of their patient however.
I’m so glad that the judge made the right decision here. It is sad that this has had to go to court though.
Poor little one. So unfortunate.
This is a touchy subject. I guess it comes down to one-on-one cases. Every person is free to decide the fate of a loved one in such condition, especially if they have deeply religious convictions.
I will just speak for myself. I do not have the heart or the stomach to tolerate suffering, let alone inflict it on someone else, especially if I love that person.
My father died some years ago, after a long agony. I know if he could have a say, he would have ordered us to end his suffering.
Instead, some of my brothers kept him alive until his body just shut down.
I would not wish for anyone to experience that.
I believe in justice and in mercy, especially when it comes to loved ones.
Those who put forward religious arguments can't help contradicting themselves. One because the god of the bible never hesitated to end lives, especially those if innocents. Two, because if you believe in paradise, you should be happy to expedite a loved one's transition to a better existence. And three, because the same religious zelots who claim to defend life can easily support wars that are meant to end thousands, even millions of lives.
So much for the better good.
This is rather disheartening, in my opinion I definitely think it's been reiterated that nothing can be done for her so she's suffering while on life support and the Only thing would be to end her suffering, it's a really painful and dilemmic situation but ending her suffering is the priority.
