Swinub Community Day

Today the Swinub Community Day in Pokémon GO took place. Bringing Shiny Swinub into the game, alongside Shiny Piloswine and Shiny Mamoswine. This Community Day also brought Mamoswine into the game, available through evolving Piloswine with a Sinnoh Stone. The evolution has apparently been added into the game last night already, as someone in our group posted a picture of his Mamoswine saying he couldn't wait until today to evolve it. Niantic most likely enabled the evolution a bit earlier so there wouldn't be any problems with it becoming available during Community Day.

When I started walking around I didn't go to the place I usually go to between a Pokéstop and De Werft Gym immediately. Instead I decided to already do tour around the place, where I would then go into the playground with The Houten Schip Gym before I'd go to that place. Which seemed to have been a great idea as I immediately came across 7 Swinub around The Houten Schip Gym. Which was quite surprising, usually you can find several Community Day Pokémon there if you haven't been there yet or for a while. So it was great to see 6 of them there at once!

After that I walked to the place at De Werft Gym and talked a bit with someone I know who was catching some Pokémon there too. Once I caught almost all Swinub around there several people I know appeared there. I walked around with them after that. Most of them already managed to find one or more Shiny Swinub at that time! I found my first Shiny Swinub while we were already halfway through the Community Day event. Which is possibly the longest it ever took me to find my first Shiny during a Community Day. I did end up with 3 Shiny Swinub at the end!

While we were walking around we saw two nearby Level 5 Raids pop up. So we decided to do those once the first one would hatch. With the second one starting like 7 minutes from the first one. The second one was at The Houten Schip Gym, which is an EX-Raid Gym. So this time I did a Raid there again! As I couldn't attend a Raid there after the last EX-Raid I did there, so I couldn't get an EX-Raid Pass for the last one that took place there earlier this week. Now I'll be able to receive an EX-Raid invite again!

After the event was over I still hung out with two other people for a long time. We talked a bit while we were checking out our wonder Swinub. The majority of the Swinub I caught that were a wonder were below 90% IV so I decided to transfer those as I already had a Lucky 93% and regular 93% Swinub ready. The Lucky has like 13 attack, with the regular one having 15 attack. Decided to evolve both of them, along with my highest CP Shiny Swinub, that also had the highest IV.

Unfortunately I clicked wrong while Mamoswine was being registered to my Pokédex. So I don't have a screenshot of the Pokédex registry. All I have is the screenshot from it during the evolution. Which is still a pretty neat picture!

Mamoswine's exclusive Charged Attack from evolving it during or up to one hour after the Community Day is Ancient Power. Which isn't a particularly good move for Mamoswine to use in Gym battles or against Raids. As it doesn't benefit from type boost due to being a Rock-type move while Mamoswine is an Ice- and Ground-type Pokémon. Though it may still serve some use in PvP, and perhaps against Gym battles/Raids in the future. So I did make sure to get the move on mine. Once I decide to power one or more of them up to a high level I will also teach them a new attack so I can get Avalanche as well!

How was your Swinub Community Day?
