I've always liked epic themes in designs and it's been a long time since I've done one, which is the reason for the one I'm bringing you today. Mythological beings that supposedly didn't exist, although some daring people say that they did, at some point in history. I like to think that this is so, that there is another magical world where dragons, fairies, elves, goblins, elves exist, because I love them.

Mixing a woman's face with a dragon was not an easy task but it helped that I chose a woman with white skin and a white dragon which I had never worked with before and I wanted to experiment those colours with a surreal background. I think dragons are the perfect surrealist combination. The dragon is sacred in Chinese culture, the most sacred animal and gives strength to the wearer. I liked that concept.

Design process

I made the design with seven images and fifteen layers in Photoshop CS6 without using AI.

To build the background I chose several images, the first one was a blue and white marble, which I had to rotate 90 degrees and on top of it I placed the Chinese landscape in two layers with darker colour fusions and focal light.

On top of that I placed the image of the pink flowers and the castle, both with darker colour blending, which is the blending that best blends the images.

I then worked on the image of the woman, previously erasing all the background. I made six layers of her and in some of them I only kept part of the face. The blends I used are: focal light, darker colour, lighter colour and normal, adding luminosity to the higher layers.

On one side of the design I put the first dragon, the one in the middle of nature, in two layers, erasing some of the background, and the blends I used are focal light and normal.

Finally in the middle of the six previous layers I worked the image of the white dragon, erasing previously all the background. I placed it in such a way that one of its eyes coincided with one of the woman's eyes and I erased certain parts. The blends I used are darker colour and lighter colour.

The animation is done completely in After Effects, working on the opacity of each layer and adding lights in the form of clouds for better contrast.

Siempre me han gustado los temas épicos en diseños y hace mucho tiempo que no hacía uno, este es el motivo de éste que les traigo hoy. Seres mitológicos que supuestamente no existieron, aunque algunos osados dicen que si lo han hecho, en algún momento de la historia. Me gusta pensar que así es, que hay otro mundo mágico donde dragones, hadas, duendes, elfos existen, porque me encantan.

Mezclar el rostro de una mujer con un dragón no fue tarea fácil pero me ayudo el hecho de que elegí una mujer de piel blanca y un dragón blanco con los cuales nunca había trabajado y quería experimentar esos colores con un fondo surrealista. Creo que los dragones son lo surrealista combinan perfecto. El dragón es sagrado en la cultura china, el animal más sagrado y otorga fortaleza a quien lo lleva. Me gustó ese concepto.

Proceso del diseño

El diseño lo realicé con siete imágenes y en quince capas dentro de Photoshop CS6 sin usar IA.

Para armar el fondo elegí varias imágenes, la primera una de un marmolado color azul y blanco, la cual tuve que rotar 90 grados y encima de ella coloqué el paisaje chino en dos capas con fusiones de color más oscuro y luz focal.

Sobre lo anterior puse la imagen de las flores rosadas y la del castillo, ambas con fusión de color más oscuro que es la fusión que mejor entremezcla las imágenes.

Trabajé seguidamente la imagen de la mujer borrando previamente todo el fondo. De ella hice seis capas y en algunas de ellas sólo conservé parte del rostro. Las fusiones que usé son: luz focal, color más oscuro color más claro y normal, agregando luminosidad a las capas más altas.

A un lado del diseño puse el primer dragón, el que está en medio de la naturaleza, en dos capas, borrando algo del fondo, y las fusiones que usé son luz focal y normal.

Finalmente, en medio de las seis capas anteriores trabajé la imagen del dragón blanco, borrando previamente todo el fondo. Lo coloqué de tal manera que uno de sus ojos coincidiera con un ojo de la mujer y fui borrando ciertas partes. Las fusiones que usé son color más oscuro y color más claro.

La animación está realizada completamente en After Effects, trabajando la opacidad de cada capa y agregando luces en forma de nubes para un mejor contraste.
