My Son is Jealous

in #memories8 years ago (edited)

It's always interesting for my son when we stay at my parents' house. After his competition yesterday, we went here straight to spend the long weekend. I asked his teachers if he can have this day off from school because it is my mother's death anniversary. Since he did well in school, his teachers gave him a go.

He is always amazed with our 20 inch CRT that still works. My old typewriter to which he uses ear plugs when he tries to use. He's got neverending questions about how VCR works and why there's so many books.

The things that he spends most of his time with when he's here are old photographs. No, let me correct that - we both spend most of our time. He loves it when we look at old photos and I tell him stories about every picture.

Tonight's highlighted photo was that of my grandfather's.

My son has always looked up to men in uniform. He wants to be a police or a soldier or a fireman someday. My son is totally jealous of my childhood. He insists its my fault he didn't meet my grandfather who was Baguio's Most Outstanding Policeman in most years during the 80s.

He also insists its my fault he was no longer able to see Baguio with wider streets and fewer stores.

One day, my son... You'll understand.

Thanks for reading!
