Sleep in

I don't like to wish my life away as it seems wasteful of my allotted time however I often find myself thinking, is it Sunday yet, during the working week and for very good reason.

Sunday is my sleep in day.

I like to sleep and have always been good at it. I rarely have a bad sleep unless deeply troubled and can sleep pretty much any time, anywhere; it's my super power I'm told. Naturally, I can't always sleep, as much as I'd like to sleep all the time, and during the working week am up and out of bed early only slipping back into bed around midnight and after a long day; I function on around six hours of sleep a night, it's quality sleep though and it's enough.

Sundays though...I indulge in a little more sleep and I very much look forward to it.

My favourite thing is to slip into a freshly made bed.

It's the feel of cool sheets against my skin, the way the tightly tucked sheets cocoon me and especially the warmth that comes from the person laying next to me. Sure, he probably doesn't like my cold feet seeking out his warm ones but I don't mind (of course) so impose upon his warmth beginning with my feet (and hands) and the rest of me snuggles into him in a not-so-subtle way and there I find what I'm looking for; sleep...or whatever.

As I drift to sleep each Saturday night there's a particular satisfaction, a deep sense of inner peace of sorts, that comes from knowing Sunday morning allows me a sleep in and it's a feeling of which I'll never tire.

I'm lucky that Sunday is also breakfast in bed day, and am woken by kitchen sounds, the aroma of brewing coffee and browning toast...I snuggle back into the sheets revelling in the luxurious feeling of a sleep in and being so fortunate as to have a partner who gives me special moments through simple things like allowing me to sleep in and a breakfast in bed.

My Sunday sleep ins don't waste the day, they're not really late sleep ins at all, just an hour or two longer than the other days, but they set me up for the day and are an essential part of my Sundays which I've come to rely upon.

Same with us. Sundays we sleep until 10am or I tell a lie, until the pitter patter of tiny feet telling me he needs a widdle. That's around 7.30 but we live in hope that some day it will go back to 10am

Hope is required and one day when that 10:00 sleep in happens you'll look back on all those years months of hoping and will smile sagely and say, hope, I love you so.

The feeling of a freshly made bed with fresh sheets is the best, I find it hard to fall asleep, sleeping recharges your energy, nothing better than waking up with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee.

A decent night of sleep followed by freshly brewed coffee in the morning is one of the best and most simple pleasures a girl could have and I'm fortunate that Sunday's are the day, and to have someone to do the hard work of coffee and breakfast making. I'm very lucky.

Thanks for your comment, I appreciate you taking the time.

and there I find what I'm looking for; sleep...or whatever.

🤔

Hahahaha... A line that says it all without saying much.

This looking forward to Sunday to sleep a little longer and with breakfast in bed is like a prize you give yourself. Well, with the help of your partner, of course. This is very good and every person should reward themselves in some way after working, or having some kind of achievement. Because it is healthy and because we deserve moments and rewards to keep us going. What would life be if we are not able to pamper ourselves? And more so because everything we do and give, begin from ourselves. We have to take care of ourselves a lot to be able to take care of others and pamper ourselves a lot so that when we pamper others we do it really well.

Certainly, I think that with this philosophical reflection that I have left you here, I have become empty 😂.

I wasn't sure if anyone would catch that line, I should have known you would though. It was a bit naughty of me I suppose, but I never said I was an angel. 😇

You're right about the sleep in on Sunday, it's a reward, something that helps motivate me to get through the week. I have a complicated life, many things that require my attention and sometimes I have to put my own needs aside to fit everything in; the sleep in and breakfast in bed is something I value and has come to mean so much to me.

I'll admit that it doesn't always happen for various reasons but mostly it does and today was no exception. A girl must have sleep...or whatever.

I find it comforting to lie in bed after a good bath, I don't know why, but it's already a habit, maybe it's because of the heat in the area where I live ha ha ha ha ha ha I recommend you to do some exercise before going to sleep, it has worked for me, I sleep like a newborn.

I have a bath almost every night, a hot bubble bath, and then I moisturise my entire body and get into bed...it's one of the best parts of my day. On Saturday nights it's even better knowing Sunday means a sleep in and breakfast in bed.

Sleeping late is the reward and prize you give yourself, it's pampering and loving yourself a lot, plus the love of your partner, that's great!

Being woken up in a special way is another great pampering that is received with joy, another reward. Then you will face the week ahead, but Sunday .... is Sunday, isn't it?

sleep or whatever.....

I know that phase too ... nothing more to add.😉

Hugs Becca❤️

I think we'd best leave that phrase unexplored...whatever can mean...hmm, whatever I guess. 🙃

Absolute silence.😂

Have a great start of the week Becca. ❤️

I love sleep in days. I don't have a regular day for it, but that extra time in bed to just relax and be comfortable is wonderful. Breakfast in bed on top of that is really awesome. You are lucky with your partners, and I hope he has his own sleep in day as well.

Sleep is good for the health, it's restorative, and despite knowing that life needs to be lived fully taking care of our health is part of that and helps us do it. I also enjoy sleeping and, of course, those Sunday mornings with the smells of coffee and that fellow of mine making me breakfast. There's a lot to like.

I love your Sunday morning ritual, sleep in, breakfast in bed. What is not to like about that? I can't think of a thing.

It's very simple but quite lovely and a special part of my week that makes me happy and grateful.
