Porto Timoni/Agios Georgios Beach - Corfu Island

Porto Timoni

Located on Northwest of Corfu Island, double beach near Afionas village. Afionas is a small village of around 300 residents and altitude around 300m. If you are going there by car, there are few things to think about. First, are you going there in the middle of the season, if yes than is the car yours or rented, and are you comfortable with some parts of tight parts of the road. We were there at the end of the season, and not that many people were there and even then i was lucky to find a parking place that was not that far from where i wanted to go. Mid season i think it is hell to park. I seen a bus station, so there is a bus going there for sure.

From what i seen, there are 2 ways to get to Porto Timoni beach. One is by boats from the nearby resorts, second is through the Afionas village. Path starts from the top of the village, near a cafe called Anemos. The path is aprox 1km long, and you need 30-40 minutes to get to the beach. Path is narrow, rocks, with bushes. Don't touch cactuses, they look harmless but have shit ton of small thorns that you don't see and you will have a bad time. Snickers would be better than flip flops.

Somewhere half of the way, the yellow building on the hill is that cafe where the path starts.

Few go pro shots so you get the feeling of how the path looks like. Smudges on photos are from rain. It was on and off for the whole day.

Really great view, interesting to see, not sure would anyone stay there and go regularly on that beach.

View from the path to the Agios Georgios Beach.

Agios Georgios Beach

Agios Georgios Pagi (North) or San George looks like quiet resort in a big bay. The beach is 4-5 km of sand. Looks beautiful, and is probably a great place for family holiday. There is decent number of restaurants, and if you look at the photo taken from the hill, almost all houses (apartments) are literally on the beach. We were there in the end of September and the day was windy and a bit rainy so you can see, a lot of space on the beach.

That house on the hill is a start point for Porto Timoni beach.

While uploading, i thought to my self, it would be great to go To the beach :)

I went to Corfu when I was younger but forgot how beautiful this place is! Not surprised it gets busy.

looks like quite popular place for Brits (UK? am i being ignorant? :D ) Kassiopi was maybe 50% English speaking tourists. and almost everyone local spoke English with (what i imagine) British accent. Our first neighbor was from Scotland, my concentration was high when speaking with him :D

Place is really great. We were really active those 15 days, and we maybe seen 1/3 of it. would definitely go there again.

UK or Brits, either is fine with me. I've been called worse :D
Oh, mate, even I have to concentrate when listening to a Scotch accent, but it's a great accent once you get the hang of it.
I can't wait for all the flights to open up so I can get abroad.

Lovely pictures despite the tricky weather!

i was probably lucky because we were there around noon, not sure how would that look on full sun :D also lucky that it was not raining hard, those rocks don't look fun when wet.

wao beauty place, nice photos!

the whole island is beautiful.

thanks

I have to go to Greece... Since I love the blues of the Mediterranean and the mountains. Your photographs, as always, are the greatest.

Cordial greetings

It is funny, friend that was with me is from serbia but lives in Vancouver, and the thing he said as we got on a ferry is "i wanted to see blue seas" :D not sure what color is the water in vancouver, but he claims it is green and he is not happy with it :D

thanks

How interesting your friend's comment, hahaha

i had some problems with links at the end of the post, some coding issue, edited in peakd as i am used to it. no idea how that search engine works.

Hey Bil, sorry for getting back to you so late.
