I see festive Christmas decorations and ornaments.

I feel I am in the Christmas festival spirit.

Once upon a time in my life, an unforgettable event occurred around Christmas, roughly 30 years ago. In those days, our community celebrated Christmas in a primitive way, unlike the present time with elaborate decorative items. Our only decoration was a Christmas tree adorned with crops and lights. Children, including myself, received new clothes sewn by an inexperienced tailor named Obioma.

During one Christmas, family members returned from abroad to celebrate at home. On Christmas day, we all dressed up for church, and as we sang carols and read scriptures, the family from abroad emerged in Western Christmas attire, captivating everyone with their Christmas caps, lights and jackets. The children wore lights on their caps, creating a spectacle that seemed like they came out of a television.

After the church service, the excited children gathered around their decorated vehicles as the family departed. With loud exclamations, the children shouted, "Happy Christmas, oyibo people (Merry Xmas from the white man's land)." The family stopped, came out of the vehicle, and generously shared Christmas ornaments like caps with lights, jackets, balloons, and candies. The man invited the children to his house for more gifts.

We visited the most beautiful house in the village, enjoyed delicious food, and received more gifts. One memorable gift was a toothbrush and toothpaste. Using the toothbrush for the first time at home made me feel like I had personally visited abroad.

The picture of my then community Christmas tree was decorated by two youths in my church and picture was taken by me with my Techno Spark 8P.
