Direct versus Indirect Democracy


Indirect Democracy, also known as Representative Democracy, is a form of governance where elected representatives act for a determined period.

Direct Democracy, as in Switzerland or the Ballot Proposition in California, offer the direct involvement of the citizens in decisions.

Which do you prefer?

Direct democracy sounds good but I don't think people are mature enough for this. Maybe with a slow transition? Indirect, but more and more referendums?

I don't believe citizens to constantly stay on top of everything that is going on in politics. That opens the door for special interests who can have an outsized impact because voter turnout is diminished.
