W ten weekend zorganizowany był świąteczny kiermasz w ruinach zamku Havre. W przeciwieństwie do trwających przez kilka tygodni kiermaszy organizowanych w większości miast, ten kiermasz jest tylko przez trzy dni, od piątku do niedzieli. Mieliśmy z żoną plany, że wybierzemy się tam razem w niedzielę, ale rozłożyła ją choroba. Sam wybrałem się tylko na spacer po okolicach Havre przy okazji zahaczyłem o zamek, ale na kiermasz nie wchodziłem.
[ENG] This weekend, a Christmas fair was organized in the ruins of Havre Castle. Unlike the weeks-long fairs organized in most cities, this fair only lasts three days, from Friday to Sunday. My wife and I had plans to go there together on Sunday, but illness postponed it. I just went for a walk around Havre and visited the castle, but I didn't go to the fair.
Po drodze trafiłem na budynki XIX wiecznego młyna nad rzeką La Haine. Część zabudowań została przerbiona na apartamenty Airbnb, pozostałe wymagają jeszcze dużych nakładów pieniężnych, żeby odzyskały dawny blask i używalność. Sama rzeka La Haine jest jest bardzo ciekawa, jej źródła są w okolicach belgijskiego Anderlues, a po pokonaniu 72 kilometrów uchodzi do rzeki Hayne w Condé-sur-l'Escaut we Francji. W górnym biegu płynie głównie przez dawne tereny górnicze i doskonale widać to w jej ciemnym kolorze. Przez dziesięciolecia Haine i niektóre jej dopływy utraciły jakąkolwiek możliwość podtrzymywania życia ryb z powodu zrzutów ścieków pochodzących przede wszystkim z działalności przemysłowej. W ostatnim czasie podjęto działania odtworzenia życia w tej rzecze między innym przez budowę oczyszczalni ścieków.
[ENG] On the way, I came across the buildings of a 19th-century mill on the La Haine River. Some of the buildings have been converted into Airbnb apartments, while the rest still require large financial outlays to regain their former splendor and usability. The La Haine River itself is very interesting, its sources are near Anderlues in Belgium, and after covering 72 kilometers it flows into the Hayne River in Condé-sur-l'Escaut in France. In its upper reaches, it flows mainly through former mining areas and this is clearly visible in its dark color. Over the decades, the Haine and some of its tributaries have lost any ability to support fish life due to sewage discharges primarily from industrial activities. Recently, steps have been taken to restore life in this river, including the construction of a sewage treatment plant.
Z racji tego, że trwał kiermasz na zamku to wioska była kompletnie wyludniona, tylko w okolicach zamku toczyło się życie.
[ENG] Due to the fact that there was a fair at the castle, the village was completely deserted, only life went on around the castle.
