I took a little break from writing for about two weeks. I just needed to rest my fingers for a while, you know. So during this period, I didn’t do much work on my laptop. Only the basic errands and chores to keep the juices flowing. Nothing major if I’m being honest.
But then, when I resumed work today, I found out that I had to update my Windows software. There’s nothing more annoying than having to update it because it’s always so frequent. Like, I have to be doing it almost every few weeks, and it’s tiring because some days it can take me as many as thirty minutes just for the update to be done and for the system to properly reboot.
And it’s especially stressful because the system automatically downloads the updates regardless of the size of the file. Since I’m always working with my laptop, internet no dae finish inside am, and so there will always be a means to keep downloading updates the second they come in. And then, once those updates do come in, a number of things change. I get this annoying notification at the extreme of my taskbar reminding me to let the update run its course.
But even worse, I can’t turn off my laptop. I can’t shut it down or anything, because doing that would activate the update. Even the button to shut down or restart won’t be available; I’d only see the switch user option. And as a result, unless I’m ready to run the upgrades in that moment, I’d force the laptop to sleep by closing it.
Why it’s a bit hard for me to just run the upgrades every time it comes is because most of the time, the only time I open my laptop is when I actually have work to do, which means my mind is already made up about work, and I can’t just put it on hold for the update to take place. So, I postpone and postpone it. Remember, I told you that it takes about thirty minutes, right?
But I don’t have a choice, because eventually I’d have to update it. And when I do, I get smooth sailing for the next few weeks until the next update comes out. This is very important because it ensures that the laptop gets all the up-to-date software needed for the smooth operation of the laptop. I once tried to stop it by pausing the updates for more than a few weeks. And that was the period my laptop crashed, and I almost lost everything on it. No expert told me that it was the course, but on a norms, 2 + 2 is always 4. And I guess that is enough for me.
So, I’ve updated it today, and now, I’d be able to shut down my laptop as I wish as I return to my writing. And boy, is it good to be back doing the one thing that I love!

It's indeed troublesome. Whenever there is such a situation, neither can we use the computer nor can we shut it down. I just leave my computer and scroll funny videos on YouTube.
