When it comes to soundtracks, people who know me know very well that I love them. Over the years, in all the movies and series I’ve ever watched, I’ve always come across soundtracks that just resonated with me. It could be just a theme song, with nothing but instrumentals. Or it could be an actual song with actual lyrics.

Either way, once I realize I love a soundtrack, long after I’m done with the movie you’ll find me rewatching and rewatching just to hear that music. And the next thing you’ll know, I’ve already downloaded it. I have an entire playlist dedicated to soundtracks alone, this is to tell you how much I enjoy them.

Many times, when watching movies, the moment credits begin to roll, we turn it off and move on with our lives. But sometimes, there are soundtracks that you’ll hear that will just keep you glued to the screen that unless that particular music ends, you won’t leave there.

Two such examples are the Japanese series and movie Alice In Borderland and Ruruoni Kenshin respectively, I really enjoyed them and the closing scenes alone saw to it that I watched it to the very end. Until the last name rolled up. And this was possible because of the song they used, I enjoyed every bit of it. And till today, I would just go to the final episode and watch the credits roll just to get that song. This is not because I can’t download it, but I just have the feeling that once I download it and listen to it multiple times, I’ll lose my interest in the song. So, now that every time I hear it, it’s like new, I enjoy it like that.

If you follow my posts, then you must know that I enjoy all kinds of movies, regardless of the country of origin. Just give me a good storyline and I will love your work. And for this, I’ve watched a lot of Korean dramas. And over the years, I’ve fallen in love with so many of their soundtracks. Starting from back in the day with You Are Beautiful, with almost all the songs in the drama, and through time, I have come to love some more recent ones.

I so much love the soundtrack of Penthouse, both the opening and closing theme, it’s pulse-pounding and when you hear it, you’ll know something is about to happen. I use one of them as my ringtone even. Then there is also Vincenzo, I also love the music used there. For these two dramas, I mentioned, my favorite soundtracks were just normal theme songs with instrumentals. For songs with lyrics, there is The Veil, the original soundtrack is Reason. I heard this song only one time, and I just knew I had to have it and to date, I still enjoy it immensely. Then, there is You Are My Destiny from My Love From The Star. A very touching song, that even though I don’t understand the language, still hits hard.

But then, Koreans are not the only ones with good soundtracks. When we take it to Hollywood, we have pretty great music as well. The first I’ll talk about is the opening theme for The Flash series. You might find this odd, but I so much enjoy it. And when I listened to the full version, I was beyond wowed! Apart from that, there is also Game Of Thrones, Pirates Of The Caribbean, and even Merlin. Their theme songs are just impossible to stop listening to.

For songs, I like Spirits by Beyoncé for Lion King and Swan Song by Dua Lipa for Alita: The Battle Angel. Honestly, if we keep going on and on about this, the list would be inexhaustible.

But still, we can’t end it without talking about my motherland. Nollywood has actually brought out some pretty good soundtracks. And many of them have stayed with me through the years. The first one that comes to mind is Treasure for A Million Tears movie starring Kate Henshaw and Emeka Ike. It was a heartbreaking story that wrenched the hearts of a lot of us back then.

And then, basically the entire opening tracks from every soap opera Wale Adenuga Productions gave us. From Superstory to This Life and Papa Ajasco, the songs were all hit and no miss. And then, a host of shows from other studios as well. They are so good that if you listen to them today, you’ll find yourself in a severe case of nostalgia.

When it comes to music, especially when they are being used in movies, I make sure to take note of them. Because they give meaning to scenes and make them more interesting. I believe Nollywood has a lot to learn in the soundtrack department, but they are not bad at all. Even though I’ve not heard any impressive one in any of their recent movies. But I believe we are getting there.

More movies will come out, and more impressive tracks will as well. My playlist will grow and we’ll keep on enjoying it all. No matter what, once I hear a song I like in a movie, I’m getting that song ASAP.

No time for dulling at all.

Among all of those music I think you are my destiny is the best one in my opinion although all of it seems good to me. I hardly listen music and in your case you are a music lover.

Because they give meaning to scenes and make them more interesting.

Yes, it's right. Movie scene and story add some value in music and I noticed it many times and made more interesting.

Yeah... music makes movies more interesting. That's why they're so important.

Thank you for reading.
