Does anyone else think that #LastPass is owned by the #CIA? One of the last entities to acquire it was a "private equity firm" and they paid $4.3 Billion USD in outright cash!

Glad I never signed up for any of these services. Unless we get an open source fully encrypted solution, I don't think it is wise to use these apps for anything other than Netflix, Facebook etc.

Yeah, for social media accounts I think it's okay, but definitely not for anything liquid 👍

I just don't have much trust for any of these apps, why would I need something like that, I can write it down or hash my pass.

The appeal is for convenience, the cost is that it's less safe than saving it yourself 👍

Not CIA. They aren't allowed to spy on citizens. The FBI, probably.

Okay @shainemata yeah, I thought about this due to what happened with the original #Crypto company https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/feb/11/crypto-ag-cia-bnd-germany-intelligence-report It make sense that if the United States did that, they'd probably buy up #LastPass too.

P.S. Welcome to https://d.buzz 😄👏

There's some food for thought! I don't know how you actually plan to turn remote desktops and password management into 4.3B otherwise.

Yeah, that's another good point!

I immediately switched to another free & open-source password manager very soon after I have seen this post. The reason why I used LastPass is because some of my friends, and even popular YouTubers, recommended it (along with DashLane) to me. It was a mistake to trust in proprietary (closed-source) software. Thanks a lot @chrisrice.

I should also change my passwords to all my important accounts.
