Nobody Knows What They're Doing

Here's a secret nobody tells you when you're young. Nobody knows what they're doing. Not really.

We grow up thinking the adults have it figured out. They seem so confident. So sure of themselves. They have jobs and mortgages and plans. They make decisions like they know exactly what's going to happen next.

Then you become an adult. And you realize it's all bullshit.
Everyone is just making it up as they go. Some are better at hiding it than others. But nobody has a master plan. Nobody has all the answers. We're all just doing the best we can with what we've got and hoping it works out.

I spent over 20 plus years in the Marines. You'd think if anyone had it figured out, it would be the military. Structure. Hierarchy. Clear orders. Everything laid out. Nope.

I watched officers make decisions they weren't sure about. I watched senior enlisted cover uncertainty with confidence. I did it myself. You project certainty because that's what the job requires. But behind that? Doubt. Questions. Hoping you made the right call.

The ones who scared me were the ones who actually believed they had all the answers. Those were the dangerous ones.

It's no different on the outside. Bosses pretending they know where the company is headed. Financial advisors guessing like the rest of us. Doctors making their best educated guesses. Politicians definitely not knowing what they're doing. Everyone's winging it.

The guy in the nice suit with the corner office? He's Googling the same questions you are. The couple with the perfect family photos on social media? They're fighting about money and wondering if they're screwing up their kids.
Nobody has it figured out.

Once you accept that, it's actually kind of freeing. You stop comparing yourself to some imaginary standard. You stop thinking everyone else has the playbook and you missed the handout. You realize we're all stumbling forward in the dark, bumping into walls, adjusting course.

That's just life.

The sentence that jumped off the screen at me is the "Googling"

The relying upon biased manipulated search results to make decisions is true lemming like behaviors.

Indecision is deadly in my line of work. So I will not be using a search engine ran by a truely evil company to make my next split decision of should I swerve or brake. A big tech company with quite possibly the dumbest sounding search engine name in the "intra-web-www-dot-cess-pool"

Your truth is refreshing and terrifying all at the same time. I was already well aware of this truth you speak of.

I wonder if anyone who is not aware is currently in a fetal position sobbing uncontrollably?

Probably not. Googlers are often not self aware.

PSA: When Googling for answers, it is typically for things like: "What is the characteristics of a Kenworth T880". It would not be for something like: "Should I shoot the guy approaching my convoy to fast in Al Anbar".

Skill and knowledge are a thing of the past.

IMO the ghoulgools searches are like the hand held calculators we were forbidden to use in school but we did anyways. Also The cell phones of today. They call em smartphones. That is comedic irony. Should called em Googlet phones. Sure make things easier. No smarts to it.

Yes, my hatred for a.i. and alphabet.inc (Ghoulgools) shows.

I try to laugh about it tho. Such a dumb name. Is it like baby talk or something? "Goo goo gaa gaa search it"

As well as my disgust for "Billy" Microsloth Windblows Gates. The Bloatware/Spyware King. Depopulist and Skipper Jeffy Epsteins Gilligan on the Pedophile Island tour.

But that is another sarcastic rant for another day.

I am back to radio silence now as My opinions tend to upset the thin skinners. 😉

You keep rapping friend. I love it.

Oh And this newer truck with its a.i. BOOOOOLLL-Shit

Collision Mitigation they call it...

Gets it right 25 to 50% of the time.

I must be getting it right more than that cuz nobody is dead... yet

Not sure if I can drive with it. Gonna have to either have it turned off or abort this mission mee thinks.

Dinged me for an unsafe lane change last week. Guess I shoulda ran over whatever I was trying not to hit. Had no time to Ghoul-gool it...

a.i...? Maybe we shoulda tried to get it closer to 100% before forcing it on the sheeple..?

Ok... going dark now 😎

We have that stuff on our new car. Turned it off.

At least some still have that shut off option. Bet that goes away eventually. 🤨

When my husband tells me stories about the army I'm not impressed by the professionalism of the officers responsible for him. They seemed so cavalier about life. It was obvious to me from his stories that they didn't care about his life, at all. I guess that's the nature of war, but it's shocking to hear the stories.

I'm glad you both made it back and can tell us about it.

The officers I had, for the most part, were very professional and good people. A few just saw their positions as a step on the rung. They were few though. The military has changed a good deal from the draft days of Vietnam. Lots of hard lessons learned from it. Some good, some bad.

Glad he made it back as well.

I'd not be able to do half my job without Google I don't think. It's crazy how someone out there has had the same problem as you at least once.

For sure!

You are right. I know I like to create things. But when I create something I only have some idea but don't imagine the final result. I have seen many pick up/ relationship videos...yet when I like a girl I still spend days thinking about what to say to her and how to ask her out...and I still fail😛

Maybe stop spending days thinking about it and just ask them. Let it rip. 😀

It's true, we all make it up as we go along. There are some skills that are learned and knowledge as well, but in the end it's up to you to apply it. Sometimes you make the right call, sometimes you don't. Welcome to the world! lol

Yeah, I think my post was more a venting than anything else. What’s the old saying? “We plan and God laughs.”
