In 2018, photographer Larry Panel captured a scene that still haunts me. He saw a lion lying exhausted, motionless on the grass. We were close to him, just a meter away. At that moment, I lowered my camera and just stared at him. Looking into the lion's eyes, it was as if time had stopped. I just wanted to tell him, "You are not alone."
Slowly, his breathing slowed, and finally, his chest heaved. Then everything stopped. The King was gone. That moment was not just the end of a lion's life, it also brought to light a harsh truth about the impermanence of life.
How short life is, and how fleeting power is—this is clearly evident in the final moments of a powerful creature like a lion. Beauty fades one day. All of our lives will one day stop too. So, let us always be humble, stand by the weak and sick, and make life more precious.
