But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
My thoughts this morning are very sober as I have been trained to do occasional self assessments. From the scripture above, and many others that we may refer to, it is obvious that Christianity is about progressive growth into perfection. In psalm 84.7, it is called going from strength to strength.
I think it's important that individuals attempt self assessments too, asking questions like-
- am I growing in the Lord?
- am I winning the battle of character development?
- am I reflecting the image of my king more?
Christian growth does not happen automatically or accidentally, it takes conscious effort and intense hunger for Christlikeness. If we are walking the path of the just, each step must bring in more light.
How do you attempt this assessment? - locate areas of struggle and how long you have been there.
- measure how close you are to the scriptures, and your intimacy with Him in prayer.
- look for the joy that should be there.
If you score low, don't despair, talk to the Lord and maybe, a trusted friend. Inch by inch let us move towards His image.
Amen.
