I just received an on-chain bitcoin zap. On Nostr, "zaps" are bitcoin sats given as tips to others. Until a day or two ago, they were sent over the Lightning Network (LN). They still are over LN, and that's likely the best way to do it, but they can now to sent on-chain. I just got one.

I believe this ability is currently only on the https://ditto.pub front end with its integrated wallet, as below:

The transaction can be seen on any bitcoin explorer such as https://mempool.space/tx/5a8a598df01a5e28b180cb1b945ec8619dc06396a692d906fd8fd4e3a9f4f945

The Lightning Network is likely the better way to do zaps. It's much cheaper--seems it was a $0.24 fee for a $1.01 zap. And, I believe the address is reused which is not ideal in terms of privacy. But, to me, the cleverness lies simply in the fact that it can be done.
Bitcoin finds a way.

I go by @crrdlx or "CR" for short. See all my links or contact info at https://linktr.ee/crrdlx.
A $0.24 fee for a $1.01 transaction (which got tipped to you) seems very expensive, as the fee is a whopping 23.77% of the amount sent. 🤔💸 Looks like your emphasis is on "it can be done"! 🤯😅 !WEIRD !LOLZ
I wonder what you think about the #Magi (formerly #VSC or #VirtualSmartChain) network !INDEED. 🤔🤓 You haven't posted anything (here on Hive) about it yet according to #Ecency Search. 🤯😅 !HOPE !WEIRD !PIZZA
I think k it's fantastic. I've messed around with it a tiny bit but I have a lot to learn. There's staking and RCs, I think, which is not entirely foreign to me but I have to learn the vocabulary. So much to do.
So far, the most !FUN part for me on the #Magi platform is the ability to send (and receive) sHBD ("staked Hive-Backed Dollar") to other Hive accounts (whether those Hive accounts are already in Magi or not) !INDEED. 🤔😎😏 !WEIRD !HOPE
