Local Coin Shop Find 3/3/2023

The Local Coin Shop always has a surprise. They wanted to get rid of these Gold-Plated Washington Clad US Quarters, for face value. The Grandchildren will have fun with these: IMG_8705 (2).jpg

One of the first rules, of coin collecting, is to never clean, polish, or try to improve a Coin. But when it comes to bullion, I don't think it can hurt the dreaded milk-spot Coins. I'm not sure it's even worth the time. But this Australian Perth Mint Kangaroo Silver Dollar, is still four nines pure Silver, underneath, the non-contagious milk spots.

This is not intended to be any kind of financial advice. This is all about a fun hobby, of collecting, stacking & sharing Silver Coins, Treasures, and such.

Thanks again for checking it out, on #silvergoldstackers, where Stackers show & share their treasures, thought & ideas

Beautiful coin stock, it looks amazing

Do you know what's the story with them?

My guess is that someone thought, gold-plating them, was a good idea. No telling how much work, time & resources, were put into them. The Local Coin Shop would never pay more than face value, for them.

These gold plated coins would be SOOOO FUN just have in a little wooden chest. Someone might think they're real solid gold.

I like your principle in stacking! You buy silver, like that 2021 Kangaroo, at bargain prices. Silver is silver!!!

I like the Gold Plated Quarters, more than the Silver Coins...

A nice stack of gold plated Quarters. It's quite difficult to spot fakes or real !

Very nice sack of golden quarters! If only they were solid gold... Still a nice coin even spots. Lots of nice silver in there and that's what counts!

That kangaroo coin is the worst milk spotting I’ve ever seen. Dam
But it is silver

Yeah, some high-paid public government quality control servant, asleep on the job.

I have never seen this much quantity of gold coins at one place. Do you own all this ?

They are only gold-plated, US Washington Quarters-Dollars. And only clad,
Copper/Nickel, too. They are not even Silver. But, a deal, at Twenty-Five Cents, face value, with a six cents, metal melt value, each. Beware, "Golden" refers to color, not real, Gold!
