This year around the first of January STEEM was at an all time high of around $8.50. I had only been on the platform for exactly one month at this point, so of course I was hyped and motivated just like everyone else (still am). However, I really had no idea just how volatile these markets were. So of course I bought a fair bit of STEEM (around the $3-6 range usually.)
Nowadays the price is well under $1 (currently $0.24) & everyone has either moved on or is buying more. I have chosen to stick around, having posted every single day since I have joined, that means for over a year now.
I guess you can say that I truly am positive about the future here. Are you just as hopeful?

You have a very similar thought process as myself. I know almost nothing is completely predictable in life. You can prepare though.
I wasn't present in the markets last year before the big surge in market caps happened. Did it really just all come out of nowhere like that? No slow build up?

I would say, 2-4 years, if: 1. Cryptos generally recover 2. Steem(it) doesn't get very strong competition (Tron, Lisk, BAT etc.). 3. Steem(it) keeps evolving, developers keep developing.
Indeed, all of those will play a factor. My wishes is that we all flourish, not just one or two systems. The world is plenty big enough for that.
We are living in capitalism (most of us), may be the best system humanity invented, at least most effective until now. One essence of capitalism is competition, that makes individuals and companies improve. But there are always losers, too.
No denying that. The losses sting just as much as the victories feel sweet.

Probably in the next 6 months. To be more precise, I think that the next uptrend will start somewhere around February.

came inn here in january last yars a think its was sitting arund 4,5$
so a remember. but am allows sticking around. a have a 5 years plan on all crypto and steem is included in there. but a will say 2 years here not 8$ but maby 3$.
now is the time to get your hans on more not give up. the pay out now are great compering to in January.
I been here about a year and half and seen big waves up and down. I think with the bitcoin low and all the alt coins really suffering Steem is just following suit in a down and confusing market. I do not think the current political and economic situation helps us move any faster. I think cryptocurrency is the future and I still believe bitcoin as most will reach incredible highs in the future possibly next year or by 2020 once we are on a more directed path? Steemit has serious potential and I could see this site getting a lot bigger in the next bull run. I think we will pass our last high just as bitcoin will pass its previous high. Time is the real question for all of us and there is no collective knowing on when this will all happen. I have big faith that we will see a turn in 2019 just as people are figuring out exactly what all this is.
just for fun I say March 2019 we see major climbs back upward. across the boards Steemit included

Well... who knows... all of us want Steem reach 8$, 10$, 20$... but the reality is so unpredictable, so... we only can to be patients and buy more Steem ;)

Only time will tell. The best thing to do in the meantime is occupy ourselves with as many positive instances as possible as to stay motivated.

2-3 years (six months to one year after the next BTC halvening) STEEM & BTS seem to lag the hype train of the rest of crypto sphere. It's pretty obvious that the price of STEEM is correlated to BTC (along with the majority of the other tokens out there) but has an image problem with "investors".
