Difficulities in China 🧧🥠⚔️🔥🐉
While waiting for the COD MWII Beta to start later today, I decided to give a brand new game a try. I got a notification from PlayStation that a new demo has just been added to the PS Store this morning.
Team Ninja is the developer behind the famed Nioh franchise. If you loved those games, you would surely be a fan of their upcoming release Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty.
A bit about the story of Wo Long:
184 A.D. China at the end of the Late Han Dynasty.
The world is in turmoil and infested with demons,
and the long and prosperous dynasty is on the verge of collapse.
As the Yellow Turban Rebellion rages,
led by Zhang Jiao's Way of the Taiping,
the protagonist, a militia soldier heads out to suppress
the Yellow Turbans when he meets a young man.
This encounter engulfs the protagonist
into a swirling intrigue of chaos. Source
As you can probably see, this game is set in ancient China. You can be assured that this is a beautiful rendition of the time period and will surely be a location that many will enjoy fighting and exploring.
As for gameplay, it reminds me a lot of Nioh which means that it can be categorized as a Souls-Like. Key emphasis on LIKE, since this game's combat is not slow-paced in the least bit. You will be dashing and slashing at high speeds and even incorporate magic with the ability to summon spirits such as a Phoenix. You can even sneak up on some enemies for an instant kill from behind. It looks and feels really good. However, if you aren't a fan of this style of game, Wo Long probably isn't going to change your mind. Anybody who enjoys a challenge or prefers the Souls-Like genre will feel right at home.
In today's video, I will be playing through the tutorial and other initial parts of the demo. I skipped past the character creator and went with the fire element type, although there were many different options for both.
Overall, I'd say this game is gorgeous and very challenging. There will be many people who fall in love with this game, but I am not one of them. There isn't anything inherently wrong with the game, it just isn't the type of game I wish to spend my time playing.

This demo's pretty sweet. It almost gives me Wukong vibes -- lots of quick action and also set in China. Spirit Attacks look cool and that Divine Beast Resonation was beautiful! Seems like a pretty intricate game. Pretty decent graphics. Haven't heard of this game at all but thanks to your post now I do! Can't wait for it to come out!
At first, when I saw the article telling me this demo was out, I thought it was Wukong. I REALLY want to play that one, but Wo Long is pretty cool too. I felt like I had just summoned Moltres when my fire beast came out the first time. Intricate is definitely a good way to describe this one.
Yeah, Wukong looks amazing. Recently saw a clip of a boss fight with a dragon on a lake -- just stunning. That phoenix attack did look a lot like Moltres from Pokemon, makes me curious about the other elemental builds and what their summons look like. That skill-tree menu looks a bit like the one in Death Stranding. 2023's looking more and more like a good year for gaming haha
The fact that you get to play as the Monkey King dude is just too cool. Plus it’s gorgeous and looks fun. I’ll be playing it when it finally arrived I’m sure.
As for the Wo Long demo, I already deleted it in favor of the MWII Beta due to SSD space. I didn’t test anything but the fire elements. I’m sure they’re all really cool though.
It really looks good. The character looks a lot like the character from sekiro legends die twice.
Is it a from softwere game as well? And when does they plan to release the full version?
Also similar to Sekiro, but even closer to a Nioh game since it comes from Team Ninja, not From Software. Release date isn’t specific yet, slated for 2023 sometime as of now.

I played it for about 30 mins today. Seemed pretty cool. I can't wait to try some more of it. The combat seems fun.
That's about how long I played it. I heard the demo is several hours long, so you should be able to play quite a bit of it.

It's appealing for sure, but requires a lot of focus to do well.
It looks like an excellent game but you have to dedicate a lot of time to it and I imagine that it is complicated since you have to be discovering, fighting and exploring.

Seems like an interesting game! I'm not sure though if my partner would decide to buy it. The graphics are okay, it's responding well. Seems like I will waste my time playing the game if we buy it. 😂

Sadly we never tried playing Nioh or Nioh 2 but I'll still tell him about this game. It looks exciting so I'll still let him decide if he'll get it or not. We have many games we haven't played yet LOL

Shooters mostly. Some RPGs. I love racing games. I have a lot of games genres that I enjoy. The Souls genre has always just been hard for me to get into.

I had heard about this game and watched a trailer. Now I'm watching this and man the game looks awesome. The graphics, the mechanics, the feeling, it all looks so good. I hope my computer can handle the demo.
I have a feeling there are a lot of people that will fall in love with this game and have nothing but good things to say about it.
