Dock Flock

in Photography Lovers2 years ago

So as we made our way around Lake Edith, suddenly I noticed a gaggle or flock of ducks. So walking ever so slowly toward them, and really really hoping they would not fly away, I slowly pulled out the camera and began shooting like a madman. When done, there was still some time available, so I also took a whole bunch with the smartphone too. This is when it is handy to have a 42 mega pixel camera. Any duck enthusiasts out there that may know what kind of duck this is? Anyhow, it was the highlight of Edith Lake for me. These chance wildlife encounters are certainly much appreciated, but the bigger scarier Bear ones we can do without. Unless I am at a safe distance away. Photos taken inside Jasper

Awesome shot's my friend, great capture of the North American female Common Merganser. I've never seen one in person yet but it sure is a super cool duck and them chicks too look so cool as well. So nice...

I was thinking you might have the answer to my question about the species of duck! Thanks @shoemanchu.

You take the best pictures!

Thanks @optout, appreciate it.

Coo, you are even better than Alice, he says in that song----We can't even think of a word that rymes.

Laughter, that's him, but the song is School's Out.

Awwww!... What a cute thing that family of ducklings!... When photos are taken with passion these wonderful things start to happen in front of us!... Thank you for sharing this touching series, it looks particularly beautiful in black and white!

It's really a very beautiful capture, of the ducklings and its young, just like they are purposely there for your camera 🤗

They knew I was coming, and waited for me to get into position!!

Hahahaha...

These are beautiful and your shots just so powerful. Look at the ducks with its ducklings perched like they are also admiring the beautiful Lake Edith.

It was a nice discovery, as we walked around the lake!

@tipu curate

They make a mess of our dock. And rafts.

I thought it was a gaggle of ducks … but I see that flock is what they are called ..

When ducks are walking on land, they are a “flock of ducks” or a “waddling of ducks.” When flying, they are a “skein.” And when they are swimming, you can call them a “raft of ducks.” What you call a group of ducks, greatly depends on their location.

Yeah, I wasn’t sure actually. Thanks for the clarification.

@daveks, I'm having trouble displaying your photos. What kind of link is formed in the post https://images.hive.blog/1536x0/https://i.imgur.com/aVtfMYy.jpg (for example, the first image)?
If I follow the link, I see an error: {"error":{"name":"invalid_image"}}
If I cut the link to https://i.imgur.com/aVtfMYy.jpg, I can see the ducklings in the photo.

And so I see your post

I thought it might be a problem with the Chrome browser on my computer. But it is the same in other browsers and on other computers or smartphones.

These problems started with a post about Kayak on the Water

Photos with ducklings are wonderful.
When they take turns jumping in the water, it's so funny
Next time there will be such a shot, right ? ;-)

It was super cute actually. Thanks.
