Happy New Year Of The Pig!
Today a new year has begun in the Lunar (Lunisolar, Moon) Calendar in various Asian cultures, like in China, Vietnam or South Korea. We talk much more than about 1600 millions (1.6 billions) of people. Because only this three countries have 1418+96+52 millions of citizens. I think also in Mongolia, Tibet, some part of India are Lunar New Years celebrated today. In some places the pig is replaced by the boar.
Allegedly many traditions, beliefs and superstitions are connected to the Moon. Many people think the year will have some special attributes, and a prophecy, prognosis can be given for the people based on the signs.
