Captain's Log, Supplemental: There has been a Hardfork... AND

in #steem5 years ago

This morning, I went to get another cup of coffee and sat on the back porch with Mrs. Denmarkguy as Steemlandia allegedly rolled into the "New Paradigm." It was a little before 8:00am, US Pacific time. We talked about our "regular" lives and the various things we have to do to keep our worlds sailing...

Upon returning, the endless stream of error messages scrolling across the top of SteemWorld.org told me that we were — indeed — forked.

Just a few moments later, I was able to confirm aforesaid forkedness:

Two Three Things That Made me Happy, Right Then:

I was happy that I have plenty of life outside the Steem ecosystem, and I am in no way depending on this circus to be anything more than the "circus" that it so repeatedly proves itself to be...

And...

I was grateful for my natural tendency to believe that pretty much nothing ever turns out the way people expect it to, so don't even bother with expectations, just leave them at the door.

And...

I was happy that SteemPeak was still up and running, so I can sit here and write these thoughts for later publication, regardless of just how forked up the current situation might be.

Meanwhile, some of the "Tribal Sidechains" appeared to be up and running, too... things that make you go "hmmm...."

I thought back to the previous Steem hardfork — in September 2018 — and how I ended up spending a week playing around on Weku, for shits and grins. Not planning to go back there, as I mentioned in my last post... but the irony of the repeat performance is not lost on me.

It's another spiky situation....

Today, I Will be Working on Something Else!

It has now been about three hours, and whereas some aspects of Steem seem to be up and running, others are not. For example, the newest post I can get to display is about three hours old... imagine that! And it is now 11:58, US Pacific time.

Maybe this is just another kick in the butt to remind us all to stop fretting over this place and get on with "real" stuff. Because a lot of this basically isn't real.

Yardwork, is real.

Working on listing things on my eBay stores is real.

If you are having anxiety attacks over the state of the Steem blockchain — unless you happen to be running a witness — it's probably an indication that you are taking all this far too seriously!

Get outside in the sun! Take your dog for a walk! Work on one of your hobbies!

Just do something other than sit there, refreshing the page every 30 seconds!

Boulders in the California Desert...

It's Now 3:30pm, and it Appears I Can Publish This...

Looks like the Steemisphere is somewhat operational, and I might be able to publish this... which I mostly created as a "marker" for this day and event.

I have spent my day working on art, helping Mrs. Denmarkguy with her podcast, tidying up some of my eBay listings... and, just for shits and grins, trying to make some functional sense of how I am going to incorporate the proliferating "tribes" we now have, appropriately.

AND looking at them to see which ones are just boondoggles, which are just ill conceived FOMO operations, and which are plain old exit scams... and which ones look like they might make sense to be legitimately a part of.

Sometimes I fell like my deliberate and slightly ponderous nature is a handicap in this rapidly changing world.

So be it, I can only move at the pace at which I know how to move...

Here we go: 1st Post-HF.21 Post!

This is my first fork, and I’ve only noticed a few hiccups.

This one did seem a little less "disruptive" than some of the ones in the past... crossing my fingers for that to be part of a new "trend!"
