I am not sure who is going to see this comment, but I am really confused by a lot of the comments I am seeing on this thread. So, I am going to throw out a random comment of my own.
The proposal
This proposal suggests the bot will only upvote posts, about metals, with the tag #silvergoldstackers made by people delegating to the bot.
It is also introducing the idea of vote accrual. I do not know the exact math (that is up to @buggedout to explain).
But basically if you delegate and post now on any topic you get an upvote. In the new system if you delegate and post on metals every day you would get an upvote daily for those metals posts. If you posts about random stuff every day that would not get an upvote.
BUT
If you post about random stuff for 6 days but on one day each week you post about metals.... that would get you a FAT upvote that would hopefully make up for the other stuff not being upvoted. Now I am not sure the math works like that exactly but I think that is part of the reasoning behind vote accrual. You don’t need to post about metals all the time, but as a stacking community posting about metals sometimes should happen. Otherwise why be in a stacking community?
Just like how actifit won’t support your posts if you don’t post about exercise.
No one is saying it’s got to be all metals all the time. (Though for some of you it is all metals all of the time. 🙂) Just find the balance that gives you ROI if that is what you need to keep delegating. It might turn out OK. If the proposal passes and people hate it then surely people can vote to change it back later.
I haven’t voted yet. I get the feelings on both sides. But I will share this.
I looked at EVERY PROFILE for every member one by one a week or so ago. There are people who post on metals every day. There are people who post on metals occasionally. There are people who barely post anything. There are people who have vanished (no posts or comments). And there are people who have posted EVERY DAY for six months without any posts on metals. If you have time to post every single day for half of a year but have ZERO posts on metals...? If you can post every day for a month but never post about metals...?
This proposal is trying to incentivize sharing the topic that brought us all together. We aren’t a generalized community. We are a community that exists for a specific goal. Travelfeed supports travel posts, actifit encourages exercise. Leo Finance is all about money in various forms. But unlike these others @buggedout and @welshstacker have come up for a way to still reward your delegation without forcing you to make a daily metal post let alone a daily post. The way being the vote accrual.
Now let’s talk tags and the Hive community front end.
On steem we used the tag #steemsilvergold. This tag was really ONLY for metals posts and community related stuff (like when I met @senstless and @summertooth one night in Seattle, that got the tag. It was community related.) The tag #steemsilvergold was never about Wildlife photography or cheese tasting or gardening. When we moved to Hive using the tag #steemsilvergold was dumb. So we changed the tag on both platforms to #silvergoldstackers. That tag was introduced to replace #steemsilvergold in posts about metals.
The community front end
The communities feature started on Steem. When hive forked away from Steem we suddenly had a community front end on each platform.
I personally hate the community front end. It is not well executed. I hate how posting articles there only shares them to the community and your posts page but not your blog. I hate having to “rehive” my own posts from the community page to get them on my blog. I hate that using the #silvergoldstackers tag won’t get my posts onto the community page. I hate how so many communities have their own front ends because I only want to use one front end.
I do like that the community page can share a sampling of our interest with the stacking curious. I like that the community page has an about section and description. I finally figured out how to pin something to the page so am eager to pin a @myprecious post or @ssg-community post to the top so people can easily find out more about us.
Wanting upvotes to specifically reward users of the community page is a separate issue to what @buggedout has proposed. If that is something you desire, the way to do it is to create a post asking for a community vote. And we would go through a process like we are doing here with @buggedout’s proposal. I should also add that if you ask for a change like that it may or may not be technically possible. 🤷🏻♀️
Thanks for reading. 😊
If you like the proposal @buggedout has made vote yes.
If you have issues with the whole thing or parts of it that make you hesitate vote no.
Only you know what will benefit you personally and only you can decide how either outcome impacts your involvement going forward.
You are all good people.. the yes voters, the no voters, the proposal writers. Having the vote go one way over the other doesn’t mean any one of you are not wanted in this community, nor does it mean your contributions aren’t valued.
We are just thinking about another way of doing things. It’s not the first time and I am certain it won’t be the last time.
💛
I do my photography posts and garden ones 😜 and I Will keep doing it, I do my silver posts like 2 Times a week and its usually silverpornsaturday and piratesunday 😉 my favorites.
Sometimes I post more depending on the time I have.
But 2 Times a week is my thing and I don't know exactly how that Will be for me but I guess my silver posts gets a bigger upvote? My deligation is 2500.
And my other posts don’t get upvotes and I should not use the silvergoldstackers tag on them, only on my silver posts?
And my others no vote
@everyone..... What @dfinney said
At gold, as is, you already get over a 50% vote so for someone like me, that posts once or twice a month about my shiny, it is not a conducive change.

I know. This definitely changes the ROI the most for high level delegating, daily posters who only post metals sometimes. If sometimes were once every week... it might still be Ok for the ROI. I don’t know the math.
Separate from however this goes, you are unquestionably part of the stacker clan. If the proposal passes and you change your delegation right away or if you test it a bit and change it later... that doesn’t change this. Delegation isn’t what makes you a stacker. It is just one way you can choose to support the community and benefit yourself if you choose to do so (and if the math works in your favor).
You are a great community builder all around. Here, the alliance, your contributions as a witness.... everyone knows you love the shiny and that you love the stacker clan. 🤗
