I really love this hand-drawn map made by the organizers. It gives a clear overview of the entire exhibition area. Unfortunately, I only stumbled upon this map on the Facebook fan page after the fact. On the day, when I came out of Nangang MRT station, I dove headfirst into a massive maze filled with all sorts of treasures. I had no idea that the organizers had planned themed zones like Beauty Aesthetics, Vintage European and American Items, Taiwan-Japan Special Zone, Vintage Clothing, Toys, Video Games, Accessories, and more. Although, I must admit, I was quite curious about the cocktail popsicles near the entrance. Indeed, in the scorching heat of summer, its popularity was evident. The queue of people never seemed to end. Actually, our friendly neighbor, 7-11 in Taiwan, also sells liquor-infused ice creams like Gin Ice Cream and Rum Slurpee.

With the summer temperature nearing 40 degrees Celsius, convenience stores are going all out with icy treats to help people beat the heat. 7-11 has recently introduced a new offering, "Dad's Ice Cream, Dad's Slurpee," which can be upgraded to include an additional charge of 50 Taiwanese dollars for "Bacardi Rum" or 70 Taiwanese dollars for "Pernod Ricard Premium Absinthe" resulting in liquor-infused ice creams. Especially the Slurpee brings back a sense of nostalgia. When I was a kid, on those summer afternoons when the adults weren't around, I would always rush to the nearby 7-11 and grab a large cup of Slurpee. I'd try to fill the cup as much as I could. I wasn't a fan of the classic cola flavor; instead, I preferred the passion fruit flavor. Maybe it was the vibrant yellow of the passion fruit that tempted my taste buds, making me want to take a big sip.

Toys are not just consumer goods; they're also a culture and industry. They occupy a considerable space at the "Flea Market" booths. The ARK Monsters, a regular at the "Flea Market," offers a variety of vintage and new toys and plush dolls. They have organized or co-organized many toy fairs and are familiar with numerous collectors. If you're looking for a specific collectible, you can inquire at The ARK Monsters' booth. GoYoung Vintage, a Taipei-based vintage store, is another frequent sight at the "Flea Market." Their aim is to convey the beauty of vintage items and antiques in the most natural way. They mainly sell secondhand vintage and antique goods such as vintage dresses, antique bags, and classic Martin shoes. "Pumpkin Clocks and Watches" is a watch shop based in Kaohsiung for over 30 years. Whenever they appear at the "Flea Market," they display uniquely charming antique watches. These watches might have a retro style, such as exquisite mechanical watches or slim wristwatches, or they might be classical pocket watches or romantic wristwatches. They usually have skilled watchmakers on-site providing free watch check-ups. I have a relative who's passionate about collecting antique watches and holds this shop in high regard.

The "Comic Pit" is a recent addition to the "Flea Market" exhibition, and I just discovered it recently. There aren't many places in Taiwan where you can find American comics (like Marvel, DC, cartoon characters, comics based on movies and TV shows), so this was quite a find for me. It's the only vendor at the "Flea Market" that sells a large collection of American comics, also known as "comic books." Most vendors usually have just one or a few of these, but at Comic Pit, they're neatly arranged in rows and columns, and they're in great condition. They even have a physical counter at the Wu Chang Eslite Bookstore. I really hope Manga Pit sticks around for a long time!
