Hi there. I cover the Toronto match dates for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
I am near Toronto but don't live there. I have no plans myself of attending a World Cup match. Prices are kind of crazy.
This is a research project out of my own curiosity. I share my findings.

Toronto As One Location For World Cup Matches
This 2026 FIFA World Cup is held in the United States, Mexico and Canada. For Canada, Toronto is one of the Canadian locations for the World Cup. (The second Canada location is in Vancouver in the West.)
Toronto's soccer stadium is BMO Field. It is an outdoor stadium located at Exhibition Place near downtown Toronto. The closest GO Transit station is Exhibition GO.
Friday June 12: Canada vs Bosnia & Herzegovina (Group B)
Canada being one of 3 host countries in this FIFA World Cup faces Bosnia & Herzegovina. This is on the second day of the World Cup. Bosnia & Herzegovina did defeat Italy in their playoff final match after the penalty shootout.
(If Italy did qualify, then Italian Canadians cheer for both Canada and Italy?)
Group B has:
- Canada
- Bosnia & Herzegovina
- Qatar
- Switzerland
The Men's Canada soccer team is no longer awful but they are not amazing. This match can go either way I think. I predict both of these teams battling for second place. Switzerland as first in this group.
Ghana vs Panama On Wed June 17 (Group L)
Group L has:
- England
- Croatia
- Ghana
- Panama
I favor Ghana winning this one against Panama. A tie would be an upset I think.
Saturday June 20: Germany vs Ivory Coast (Group E)
Group E features:
- Germany
- Curacao
- Ivory Coast (Côte d'Ivoire)
- Ecuador
Germany should win this one comfortably. Ecuador for second place in the group.
Tuesday June 23: Panama vs Croatia (Group L)
Panama plays again in Toronto but this time against Croatia. Croatia to win this one.
Friday June 26, 2026: Senegal vs Iraq (Group I)
Group I has:
- France
- Senegal
- Iraq
- Norway
With Senegal vs Iraq, I think Senegal wins.
Thursday July 2, 2026: Group K Runner Up vs Group L Runner Up (Round of 32)
Group L has:
- England
- Croatia
- Ghana
- Panama
and Group K has:
- Portugal
- Congo DR
- Uzbekistan
- Colombia
For Group L, I think the runner up is Croatia. Group K's runner up is probably Colombia. For the winner, I guess Colombia.
Toronto Has 6 FIFA World Cup Matches + Other Notes
Toronto has 6 World Cup Matches with 5 of them being Group stage matches and 1 Round of 32 matches. I am not that surprised that Toronto does not have Round of 16 Matches or later. Infrastructure in the Toronto area is not that good.
As a city, Toronto is pretty tourist friendly. The TTC metro system and GO transit can be confusing though. The FIFA website does say Toronto Stadium but I think it is BMO stadium.
Hotel prices from a sample. Prices may change over time between different search engines. Prices aint cheap and the hotel locations are not that close to the BMO Field stadium. Public transit needed.
Those with money who are willing to spend may head to New York for Match 91 on Sunday July 5, 2026 or the finals in New York New Jersey Stadium on Sunday July 19, 2026.
Prices are kind of crazy. The FIFA Fan Festival tickets ain't cheap either.
As someone who visits Toronto every once in a while, I cannot imagine the amount of traffic involved from the start of the World Cup to the end. I don't forsee riots but it will get busy. Watch out for some crazy Toronto drivers. They tend to not have much patience.
