India Pale Ale Hoptopod, Dogma - The BeerSaturday Challenge - Week 349

in BEER2 months ago (edited)

By recommendation dejan.vuckovic in my last post about beer from the Dogma brewery , I decided to try #Hoptopod IPA beer at home before going to the brewery.

I watched an interview with the owner of the Dogma brewery. who stated that Hoptopod is their first beer, the best-selling, and therefore the most mass-produced.
At any given moment, Dogma Brewery has half the capacity (24,000 liters) of Hoptopod beer in fermentation.
Impressive.
Due to the volume of 24,000 liters, Dogma can serve some more exclusive stores in addition to its beer hall.

And what is actually an IPA beer?
After a bit of research, because I haven't had it before, IPA, short for India Pale Ale.
In the 18th century, while India was an English colony, English companies transported goods to and from India by ships around Africa and the Cape of Good Hope (similar to these days due to the threat of merchant ship attacks).
In order to preserve the beer during the long journey across the oceans, brewers used large amounts of hops.
As it is a beer that was first drunk in India, the exotic name India Pale Ale has remained.
Later, English brewers, guided by a marketing trick (beer drunk by capitulationists in exotic locations 🙂), started producing beer according to this recipe in England as well.

Today, the IPA beer type has spread all over the world, so it has also settled in Belgrade, where in the Dogma brewery, they brew their Hoptopod, which focuses on hops, which should give us citrus aromas and flavors.

Why Dogma IPA?
Because Dogme's slogan is "In hops we believe", and IPA is beer with a lot of hops..

The beer has a beautiful color, light orange, dark yellow color, slightly cloudy.

A beautiful, very dense foam that holds well. Beer in a glass looks very nice.

The beer has a wonderful aroma, which is expected for an IPA style.

The smell is dominated by hops, citrus notes, orange, lemon, lime are felt.
In the background, you can feel the smell of caramel and more earthy tones, as well as a little sweetness.

The taste of beer on the palate is mirrored by the smell we smelled.

Bitterness and dryness that hops give to beer are present.
This beer is very nicely balanced. Not too many hops and just enough barley.
After the beer warms up a bit, a 10-minute break, nothing new from the taste appeared, except for all those already noticed. The foam is still there.

Citrus, caramel and earth tones make this beer a great choice and highly recommended.
The beer has excellent carbonation and gives a full mouthfeel.
The taste that remains after a sip is very pleasant. The dryness and bitterness just makes you want to drink the next sip, which is even better than the previous one, and then another and another...

In addition to the excellent color and smell of Hoktopod, the packaging, i.e. the drawing on the label, is very interesting and beautifully designed.

@dejan.vuckovic, thank you for the recommendation. As soon as it warms up a bit and the Dogma brewery garden is open, I'm making a beer tour.

Thank you for stopping by my post and I hope you enjoyed the photos and my beer story I shared with you

From the design to the look of it poured everything looks very cool. It looks so rich, and the foam looks tempting

Furprisingly good for a beer in a can. I can't wait to go to the brewery for a glass of draft 😀
