Hoje fui para a casa dos meus pais, na roça, e sempre que vou para lá volto com alguma fruta ou alimento diretamente da terra, tudo bem natural. Dessa vez, voltei com algumas espigas de milho para inaugurar o período festivo junino. Foram apenas 5 espigas para mim e trouxe a mesma quantidade para o meu irmão.
Particularmente, gosto mais de milho assado na brasa. Mas, para isso, é preciso acender o fogo e esperar o carvão ficar no ponto certo, para assar o milho de forma uniforme sem queimá-lo. Além disso, ainda tem todo o trabalho de retirar a palha. Mesmo assim, para matar a saudade de comer milho desse jeito, não medi esforços. Afinal, isso só acontece uma vez por ano.
Depois de assados, dividi os milhos com minha esposa, minha sogra e meu cunhado. Apesar de todo o esforço, valeu muito a pena, porque o milho verde estava delicioso. E ainda terei muitas oportunidades para comer milho verde nessa época do ano.
Que os jogos comecem! Ops… que as festas juninas comecem!

Today I went to my parents' house in the countryside, and whenever I go there, I always come back with some fruit or food straight from the land, all very natural. This time, I came back with a few ears of corn to officially start the June festival season. There were only 5 ears for me, and I brought the same amount for my brother as well.
Personally, I prefer corn roasted over charcoal. But for that, you need to light the fire and wait until the charcoal reaches the perfect stage so the corn cooks evenly without burning. Besides that, there’s still the work of removing the husks. Even so, to satisfy my craving for corn prepared this way, I spared no effort. After all, this only happens once a year.
After roasting the corn, I shared it with my wife, my mother-in-law, and my brother-in-law. Despite all the effort, it was totally worth it because the green corn was absolutely delicious. And I’ll still have many more opportunities to enjoy green corn during this time of the year.
Let the games begin! Oops… I mean, let the June festivals begin!
