How To Combat AI Dependence

in Hive Learnerslast month

Artificial intelligence is no doubt one of the biggest inventions of our day. AI is the definition of machines taking over the workload from humans.

This is not just about physical work, but emotional, psychological, mental, and creative work.

In truth, the invention is great. There is no kind of work it can not do. If AI gives a terrible outcome, it is as a result of a poor prompt or programming.

But if the right thing is given to a good AI tool, you should not expect anything less than excellence.

I have been using the AI tool for quite some time, and I will be honest, AI has been so helpful. I can not count the times it has come through for me when I was stranded for information.

I am not an AI-dependent person, but AI is more like a friend to me. I interact with it even concerning taking some decisions, and it gave me information that helped me so well.

No one can deny the impact of AI in our world. Its speed, flexibility, and reliability are something I will not fail to mention.

I can remember some years back when I was in high school, I struggled to do my assignments.

Sometimes, I would ask Google certain questions, and it would give me poor responses. I will stress myself to go through each of the responses, and sometimes, I will end up not getting anything reasonable.

But with AI today, quality information is cheap. Information is very available and easy to access for everyone who has a smartphone. Anyone who still lacks information in our day is just lazy.

However, they say that anything that has an advantage also has a disadvantage. AI has come to help, but people have turned it into a saviour from work.

There are people who use AI for virtually everything. AI has replaced their brains; even for the easiest things, they should use their brains, they channel it to AI. Although that is part of the work of the tool, we are not supposed to be too reliant on it.

It saddens my heart to see creativity dying in our society. Gone are the days when people used their brains completely for things like graphic design, painting, photo editing, creative writing, and so on.

Today, many people are solely dependent on AI for that. Instead of people using their brains to work to boost their experience and level of creativity, they reduce it by giving a good percentage of the work to AI.

The truth is, with these things happening someday, the place of creativity in humans would be pushed completely to machines.

Is there a way out? Yes, there is, but I fear many would not pay attention to it. People love ease. They don't mind getting credit without labor.

Well, one way I think we can retain the place of creativity even with the increasing dependence on AI is by limiting the way we use AI.

Everything should not be done by AI, unless it is necessary; AI should only be used as a guide and for reference purposes alone.

If we can be able to stick to this, I am sure we will be able to maintain our creativity and avoid giving the work we are supposed to do to machines.
