The truth is there is absolutely nothing wrong with relationships, but one's motive for being in it and the kind of activities done in it is what sometimes corrupts it.
I have been in a number of relationships, and to be frank, I don't regret them. No doubt I had encounters with some that left scars on me, but I have also met others who shaped my life.
It's pathetic how people have turned relationships into something else, something so bad that some religions and societies have to give strict conditions for relationships in order to ensure that those going into it are fully aware of what they are signing up for, and also to prevent certain obscene activities.
It is very common to hear people say that relationships are scams in our day. Several heartbreaks and disappointments have rendered the hearts of many cold towards love and relationships, it is so common that people believe that those in relationships are only wasting their time.
It is a very serious issue because relationships have done so much harm to people, some to the extent of costing their lives.
But we all have different views about relationships, and I won't say anyone is wrong or right because any relationship is subjective.
Personally, I see a relationship as a beautiful thing. Of a truth, it comes with a lot of responsibilities and sacrifices, but it's usually worth it. Consider the attention, the time, the support, the love, the unfathomable care; it's just something mysterious.
I don't think anyone should reject a relationship unless they feel they are not ready for what it holds. If not, our concern as individuals should be meeting the right person.
So if you ask me whether I want to be in a relationship regardless of the sacrifices that come with it, the inconveniences, the responsibilities, and so on, I will tell you yes!
I am willing, I want someone besides me, I want someone to share my pain, my joy, and my struggles with. And I am ready to take the fights, the pains, the distractions, the burden, and everything else that comes with it.
There are many advantages attached to being single, and one of the prominent ones is focus. It gives one enough time to concentrate on themselves, to build, and to prepare themselves.
There are fewer responsibilities and fewer pains. It's something I want, but I would still pick a relationship. Two heads are always better than one. Of what good is it to run from it now and still come back later for the same thing?
Well, there are several justifiable reasons to be single, but it should not make us shy away from relationships completely. When the time is ripe, we should not hesitate to give it a chance.
