Should dPoll offer tokens/points?

Lots of dapps offer tokens/points in exchange of delegations, and user activity. We can offer a similar tokens at dPoll. I will call it DP (dpoll points) for this post.

A couple of use cases for DPs:

  • Promoting your polls (Promotion in dPoll's promotion context. Not upvotes.)
  • Spending DPs by creating new STEEM accounts. (We have been accumulating discounted accounts.)

Also, we can allocate a portion of our beneficiary rewards and distrubute that to the token holders as a real financial incentive.

What do you think? Should we implement such a system like that?

When you create a token, that shifts the incentives away from Steem's built-in reward system to something different. You really want to be sure that the shift is in a direction that aligns with your core values.

People love gamification, but you should spend some time on thorough analysis of your user-base to make sure that the design is effective and balanced, and to be aware of potential pitfalls/challenges. What percent of your users are creating polls vs answering polls? How many people are passing through to steemit to upvote the polls they respond to? How many users offer additional thought, and do the pollsters respond to those comments?

Is your system just a simple poll interface, or is it improving community engagement in a way that aligns with your core values and Steem objectives? Based on the current answers to those questions, you then design a DP reward system that incentives a behavioral transition from the actual status quo to what you wish it was.

Yes, but DP might not work out that well. Makes me think of donkey punch or double... well, never mind. ha.

Would have voted for 'Not yet' if it was an option.

If you want to see more dPolls, go for it.

If you don't want to see dPolls from accounts asking if they should have fruit or bacon for breakfast, hold fire :)

Hahaha so true, same thing happened with musing, some of "prominent" steemians were asking where to buy eggs in Nigeria, like what the fuck? 😂😂

Wait, where do you buy eggs in Nigeria?

It seems that it entices people to engage more often and participate.

Tough call. I can see how tokens encourage use but would perhaps also encourage gamers and spammers. You already give nice upvotes to decent polls so I personally see no need.

But let it be a points system, at least for now. Later you can think of a token with different uses.

For the case of user activity, I would suggest dpoll to be selective when it comes to rewarding polls.

In my opinion yes

I think it is a great idea and this will bring more and more people to dpoll.xyz
What i will suggest is a similar system like @partiko where DP can be exchange in STEEM for a particular rate.

No, they need to offer a multi-question poll option. Survey type.
