It's no consolation, but...

I have shared this screenshot in one of my posts in the past. During these uncertain times, I thought it was interesting to reread this.

Zdr is someone who has given me some eye-opening discussions in the past. I do not know this person's exact identity. But, I do appreciate the input in matters concerning crypto, politics, etc. I respect those opinions.

Zdr "spoke" those words in March 2020, over two years ago. He's been delivering the same points since 2018. That time two years ago was also when the market went down a spiral. Remember when BTC was around $4K, ETH at less than $100, or even ADA at $0.03?

We have seen news of USD reserves in central banks dropping in favor of the Japanese Yen. For example, this article from Bitcoin.com. While the USD won't lose its world reserve currency status soon, it is not going in a great direction.

Look at precious metals. Silver was at $12 an ounce back in March of 2020. Although, I recall the premiums were rather insane. Gold was around $1400, and we know the price suffers from heavy suppression. Here's a price chart of silver from Bullion By Post:

I'm not here to feed you my opinion or analyze what is happening. But, I believe that the world is changing faster than anticipated. I was a 90's kid. When I look back in life, I remember how drastically the world has changed growing up.

For me, as long as armed conflict doesn't erupt in the continental US, I see opportunity. I can't say that opportunity is not without mixed feelings. For those who are fearful, you are more than justified.

Sometimes, I wonder if humanity will ever reach that decentralized environment where nation-states will no longer control your wealth unless you let them. Recent events made me believe we are getting there little by little. I hope we get there before we blast each other back to the dark ages.

This is definitely unprecedented in most of our times. I really can't say how all of this is going to unfold. I really would have thought we were all past this kind of thing by now as nations. I guess not.

People are gonna people.

As a fellow 90s kid (Am I, or do you go by birth year? 1987 here either way). I'd say that the events of the past couple of hours have the potential to change the world in ways unimaginable; given all the economic sanctions being imposed - the wealthy always have opportunity to build wealth, and if moving into unregulated spaces to get around sanctions were an option, it would certainly add weight to any crypto environment.

I was born in '89, so yeah, I would say you count.

The funny thing is that a good number of crypto multi-millionaires (and beyond) are Russians. So, I would say you are right.

But yeah, I don't think it's the average citizens, but it's kinda insane to know the oligarchs there hold 10% of the market cap.

And look, if all else fails, I have a back-up plan.

Powerball lotto hit a $120,000,000 jackpot in Australia tonight. I'm off to check my ticket! (And then, it is definately bedtime).

Have a good one, Tim.

Nothing to add from me.

There’s only wait and see.

The changes of the last 3-4 decades are indeed amazing ... and fast... who knows what the next one will bring... At least it has not started greatly...

It’s definitely not the Roaring Twenties again.

Sometimes, I wonder if humanity will ever reach that decentralized environment where nation-states will no longer control your wealth unless you let them.

We will reach that point. As I'm reading through The Bitcoin Standard it is clear that Bitcoin is diminishing the governments power and reach over the citizens.

Add international sanctions to the list.

Actually I don't think the USD is going to disappear or lose it's world reserve currency. The economy of Japan doesn't look good and the aging demographics doesn't seem to bode well. So in a way, I think the USD will be the last standing fiat. When things go bad all around the world, most of the normal people think about hiding it in USD and that is most likely what will happen.

Looking into carry trades with Japanese Yen and entities derisk by lowering their USD reserves may tell a different story.

No world reserve currency lasts forever. https://www.midasgoldgroup.com/news/world-reserve-currencies-since-1450/
