Usually every other week is a humaning week, and every other is recharge week for me. This is humaning week and for the life of me, I can’t sleep well and/or at the right time when I would most need it.
I have a lot of human interactions all week long and since I’m not great at those to begin with, I’d very much like to have the help of good night’s sleep on my side. Oh well, it is what it is. Luckily today we have a guest teacher and the topic is interesting. Coincidentally, today is all to do with human interaction in regards to photography. Lord knows that is my weak point, I’m taking notes!
Fun fact: my makeup settles into my smile lines during humaning week, I’d say that is a good sign of me enjoying school.
Now back to the class, don’t wanna get kicked out for using my phone during the lecture. Just kidding, we are adults and very much allowed to zone out and into the internet when ever we want to. But I need to listen and want to take part in the conversation.
I don't know what one does during humaning week, but I think I need one... Maybe two, just to be safe. 😞
She means she's forced to function like a human being - on a social level in this case. Eve is very introverted. Not shy. She is just much more easily exhausted by social interaction than most people.
I’m shy too!
I didn't get that impression at the Tampere meetup last year. :)
I’m glad it doesn’t show outside. I guess I can ”turn up” when I need to and that is quite draining.
It really doesn't. I recall you having been one of those who kept the conversation going - apart from the illustrious Tarazkp who can keep going 10 hours straight in at a machine-like pace, of course. As for it being draining, I can very well believe it. When your autonomous nervous system is telling you there's too much stimulation the whole time, it can be draining to keep at it.
I like to talk 😁 I give it my all when I am around people, and do a complete shut down when I’m not. No in between 😅
Ah, I can understand that feeling. I'm usually a pretty quiet lad, myself. I guess spending some humaning time would be good.
I'm getting a bit too little social interaction usually. But it's surprising how you can adapt to things over time. Personality is not set in stone.
That's very well said! I remembered back in time when I would tremble in fear to talk to people, even close family and friends. I've slowly begun a process of opening up more over those years. It's proof that people, and personalities can change.
I think it has been shown in studies that somebody's Big5 result can change over the course of many decades.
Ah, interesting. This is the first time I've heard of anything about the Big 5 Personality traits. I certainly can't argue against the science.
Humaning is good if you can find the right humans and activities with them.
I have my family here with me, and personally, I can't think of a better crowd to spend some humaning time. I hope your humaning week's been just as well, if not better! 😄
I’ll be spending time with my family on the weekend too :)
Unfortunately, all the fun weekends tend to feel a lot shorter than what they should've lasted for 🙃
I hope you had a great day at school pretty friend. This is my non humaning week by choice lol
I hope you are having a great self care week, cause that is what not humaning week is all about right? 😁
Haha yes! Tomorrow my daughter and I are off to the medi-spa!
That's a funny looking bridge 🙃 Jeepers I didn't get it for a long time lol.
Reading all the comments and I'm much like you in that I like talking. I also shut down totally at other times and have all notifications, ringers, dingers, and things totally tuned off. I even put my phone upside down so I don't see anything light up when I'm trying to sleep. I have really weird times that I sleep compared to "regular" people. Some of that started because it was a way to avoid traffic and crowds. But enough about me haha.
