57 km cycling and and a 15-kilometer Father's Day hike... my training diary entry from May 14 2026

in Actifit19 days ago (edited)

(When I set out for my hike yesterday morning, I was convinced I wouldn't reach my destination dry. As you can see from the cloud cover, it could easily have turned into a wet trek.)

Hi Actifitters,

since I had to cut my night short far too early yesterday—simply because it was impossible to fall back asleep—I still had plenty of time before my hiking trip to Andechs Monastery. So, I decided to spend that time in the saddle. After two hours, I dismounted with 57 kilometers in my legs, packed my things, jumped in the shower, and set off.

Since a Father's Day hike simply cannot take place without beer, we had to stop to use the restroom every now and then. Whenever possible, we sought out pubs for this purpose—places where we would then immediately have our next beer. After several hours, we arrived dry at our destination and stopped at the monastery tavern to enjoy a delicious meal.

Afterwards, we had a piece of cake before finally setting off on our way back. Just under twelve hours later, I was back home—and pretty exhausted.

Fun fact: Even though I did so much exercise, I consumed significantly more calories—through both food and drink—than I burned.

Today, I’ll do a short cycling session and get my mandatory steps in. Since I don’t have to work today, I’ll otherwise just have a lazy day.
