Voting is not enough to call something a Democracy
We can go to vote every few years and we are told this means that we live in a democracy. But that only holds if our votes actually define the policies. But measured in this criteria our 'democracies' fail horribly.
- Many decisions are made against the interests and expressed will of the population.
- Policies do not change much depending on who was voted. Left politicians suddenly cut workers rights and right politicians welcome immigration. Differences are more of aesthetic nature.
- Politics rarely threatens industrial interests and even defends the interests of industry against the interests of the population. Banks are saved and bailed out, pollution is accepted and global military action is supported.
How a democracy is corrupted
Politicians need votes. The official narrative ends there claiming that in order to appeal to the population politicians will represent the interest of the population considering each vote equally. This sounds nice, but one crucial point was forgotten: money. Money is a very versatile tool for politicians, they can use it to fight party internal battles, battles acrocs parties and via media campaigns convert it into votes. And this does not only include the obvious direct advertisement before an election, but upholding a certain narrative in the media for much longer times.
This means that for a politician money is much more important than an honest support in the population as this support can be bought and the population is easily manipulated. The consequence is that politics does not serve the people, but those that are sufficiently rich and willing to spend their money for political power with the goal to get even richer.
While the failures of democracy, the spread of fake news, continuing wars and a destructive exploitation of nature may be surprising from a common understanding of democracy as the rule of the people, it becomes quite natural when democracy is identified as a rule of the bankers and industrials. A rule of people that have demonstrated to egoistically exploit every little advantage they can get.
Why do all politicians in the end support the same policies, just adapting them to their own flavour? It is because the same people pay all of them. Why do all politicians try to sell weapons like a door-to-door salesman? Because the weapon lobby wants it. Why do politicians never protect the environment against business interests? Because nature does not pay them.
Even though this system was not planned to work like this, it has turned into a masterpiece of controll and hidden power, much better than all types of authoritarian government before. The best prison is the one where the people believe they are free. And people with every election go to vote again thinking something good could happen just to be disappointed again. So many people focus their energy on this political circus, thereby fighting fake enemies since the real enemy is the system itself. As soon as you accept the rules you already lost.
Even more cynical, democracy is the leading cause for people to be misinformed. Converting money into votes requires a constant propaganda that has infected all centralised news channels. Politics is shown as something very important and serious in this propaganda. But in reality it is just a show giving the people somebody to love or hate. But the real actors stay in the background, diverting all the blame on the politicians that are themselves just a pawn in their show.
Much better to be filthy rich now than to be a king a few hundred years ago ..
How to disrupt the system
There are many ideas that can improve the current situation and resist.
- Microblogging: We now have the tools to make our ideas heard without needing any infrastructure. This creates a truly uncontrollable media that has the potential to disrupt the centralised fake media.
- Cryptocurrency: Taking the controll over money back into the hands of the public is a massive blow to the banking sector and the corrupt politics. While it may shake things up a lot and offer a chance to disrupt the system of controll, it does not solve the inherent problem with democracy.
- Local action: Don't waste your time fighting in their circus following their rules. Just start to take back controll. Identify and solve local problems without asking for permission or help from the state.
This is called the deep state. The deep state doesn't care who you vote in.

Great post. Upvoted and Resteemed. You are right in much of what you say. I would add that all major political parties, in the U.S and Europe at least, are funded by the same criminal cabal of global corporate interests and all 'elected governments' are controlled by this kleptocracy. also 'democracy' itself is not necessarily the best way to order a society imho. Personally I favour free market agorism. You can get a free copy of the Libertarian Manifesto by Samual Konkin HERE if you aren't familiar with the idea. However, I suspect from your post that you are. Take it easy.
