This Week's Prompt

“I said drama, darling, give me drama!” shouted the photographer. His model squinted even more and tilted her head in front of the sheer white backdrop. Alexa watched with hesitant fascination from the catering table. The model had on what looked like an explosion of peacock feathers and six inch stilettos, which made Alexa grateful for her more manageable sandals. It was quite the walk across the studio space from the dressing room, which posed a surprisingly difficult task in the long, fur dress she’d been put in.
“I’d avoid anything with sauce,” advised a model joining her at the table. Alexa had maintained a steady stream of mini-quiches to sate her nerves, and was reaching for the shrimp. “Unless you want to see the bill for that dress, that is.” The girl gestured her long nails to Alexa’s outfit before clawing a nearby strawberry.
“Oh, uh, thank you,” Alexa pulled her hand from the food. “My name’s Alexa, I’m new.”
“I can tell,” the model raised one of her chiseled eyebrows and smiled. “Genevieve. You might have seen me in last month’s Vogue? Page 22.”
“Oh, yeah,” Alexa nodded her head. She didn’t have the courage to confess to not reading it or any fashion magazine, really. She had read that this gig paid better than her usual work for commercials.
“Be the peacock! You are a beautiful bird, now fly!” The photographer was now flapping his arms between shots, his calls echoing through the studio. The avian model still looked intensely blasé in expression.
“Hey, can I ask you a question?” Alexa ventured. Genevieve flipped her hair over her shoulder and looked into Alexa’s eyes.
“Shoot.”
So what happens next is up to you! I'm really looking forward to reading your continuations. If you choose to make your own posts, please use some type of delineation between the prompt and your writing, like dashes and stating "Here's my bit:".

Update on We-Writes
Many thanks to everyone who gave feedback last week on adding in partner challenges. It looks like the majority would rather not have them at the moment, so I'll keep doing the beginnings as usual.
If you wanted the partner challenge reinstated, don't worry. I might add them at some point in the future. I'll definitely do another poll at some point to check in with everyone's interest in it.

Do you all know that I have offered 1 sbi to the first five who continue MY story? Two more to go! So far @wwwiebe, @mgaft1 and @scribblingramma have written one. I'll try to put together a post with all of them in it tomorrow, and add an sbi to anyone of the wewriters who continues any of those stories. confusing!

It was really @zeldacroft's idea, which I found daunting when she proposed it, but it's super fun! Not scary in the least. I am such a chicken, bwawk bwawk.
It's actually not my idea! The partner we-writes were done at the @freewritehouse before I even joined steemit. I just wanted to know if people would be interested if we brought the partner aspect back.
I'm glad to see people inspired and writing together!
I see no reason why you and @ntowl can't get in on the fun if you want to. I've been meaning to ask you - do you write the prompts?
I do! I've added a by-line this week to avoid any confusion.
I'm thinking of adding my own level of sbi rewards to sequel writers if that seems like a decent idea to you, but I want to see what this upvote curve does first. Really had fun with it last week. Thanks!

Something I didn't understand in your write up.
Genevieve was standing at the catering table with Alexa, where they struck a conversation. Where was the photographer at this time?
Was he flapping his arms between the shots, standing next to the catering table?
Or Genevieve was going back and forth between the sheer white backdrop and the catering table? What I don't understand is how was she able to participate in the shoot and talk to Alexa at the same time?

There are four people in the scene. The photographer is taking pictures of a model, who is wearing peacock feathers. Nearby, Alexa and Genevieve are talking at the catering table.
Hope that answers your questions!
